First time in awhile that Marshall had a good plot. It only lasted about a minute or so, but his trying to get ripped on was pretty funny. So was his actual gaps. Nice to see Lithgow again though. I hope he's somewhat recurring. Barney was outstanding too.

Yea, thought barney was meh for the first 1/3 of the show. Every line uttered by every character, except lithgow and NPH, prior to that Marshall scene was terrible, imo.

Lithgow saved the ep, tho.

Awful. Wife said, 'Lame' right as it ended.

I thought it was the best episode of the season, though that isn't saying much. Harris and Lithgow killed it and that was a joy to watch. (Watching the subtle differences between Lithgow's predatorial approach of the hot chick during both the reality story and the fantasy story was especially satisfying).

"I'm the LeBron James of drapes!"

I also liked the running gag of Lily's bad aim, but the "chameleon" thing was pretty lame. Also, didn't they have an intervention intervention? I thought that meant there would be no more interventions. Oh well.

this sums it up pretty well.

Bolded was my favorite part of the ep, I think.

Barney's dad looks normal, but he just gives me that serial killer vibe

Jkjk but I couldn't resist.

Enjoyed the ep but they need to kill off Lily. Her 30 super bowl line was cringeworthy. And I'm the exact opposite of PJ, the bad aim thing just missed for me (see what I did there!)

Robin's one bit of substance (her north pole rant) was solid I thought (both in terms of a chuckle and in displaying her acting chops).

Loved the rip into Marshall in the car scene too. These flaws were similar to the glass breaking episode (Lily's chewing, Marshall's singing, etc) but different enough that it mostly worked (sans Lily)

wat

I thought they finally got the sentimental stuff right (altho there was a couple lines that didn't work for me) and the first half featured some of the worst lines in the series' entire run, imo. I said it earlier but every line by every character, besides Barney and dad, missed completely in the first half of the show.

I thought it wasnt too bad, but I am always annoyed when they turn emo mode on. But yeah, I see where you are coming from, maybe did my mind play a trick on me and I just thought the second half was awful and the first half not so bad.

I think they had an intervention on pointless interventions.

Low standards but this was one of the better ep's (probably the best) of this season. Any ep centered around NPH is going to have a chance and this ep showed how much better the other characters are as supporting characters, they weren't that bad with minimal lines and screen time. Let NPH carry this thing.

Lithgow is so good. His two different approaches with the chick at the bar and two different personas were done with ease. I hope he at least comes back at some point in the future.

I doubt they're done with that arc. You can't have Lithgow for just 1 episode. Kind of a waste if that's all.

It seems like every HIMYM episode these days is 20 minutes of lameness all for one REALLY funny moment that is pretty much worth following the series every week.

In episode 19, it was the story Marshall was telling about how everyone was treating him with kid gloves, the pet opossum was hilarious.

This "modern" airing schedule is so annoying.
If I wouldnt have the possibility to watch the episodes on the internet, I think I wouldnt bother with those shows ever. How the hell am I supposed to remember the schedule?
Not even mentioning, that I always forget what happened the episode before.

I dont know if it's modern, but basically the one HIMYM, The Office, 30 Rock and w/e use. Airing episodes over 9-10 months instead of doing it in one session.

I would not say its a modern airing schedule, that is an old school schedule.

The first show I ever remember not being aired this way is 24. At some point in the mid 2000's they started airing 24 episodes in a row, starting in January. I know Lost followed suit starting in season 3 or 4.

Now alot of cable and pay networks do the same (i.e. AMC with breaking bad/mad men for 13 straight episodes and 39 weeks off, various HBO and showtime shows)

I personally hate the 2 weeks on 2 weeks off method, so annoying.

But the 24 episodes spread from September to May was definitley around a long time.

+1. Saw him on Letterman or Leno and was saying he's working like 20 hr days juggling HIMYM and the new muppets movie he's making. He knows the show jumped the shark and definitely wants to get out.

Rewatching some old eps and lily has been terrible since the start. I assume I didn't mind it as much because the rest of the show was killing but the combo of the character and the actress make me cringe
