I think the final moments of the episode might have been a bit more effective if Ted had shed a tear during Marshall's pre-podium speech. Everyone else was crying, even Barney. But Ted didn't have sh*t. Totally took me out of the mood they were trying to create. Yeah, they were all "crying" during the funeral speech, but it wasn't the same situation.

I agree that not every episode has to be just funny; HIMYM was actually my fav show for awhile because I thought they integrated the humor and dramatic elements quite well. Nonetheless, it is still first and foremost a comedy. Also, the dramatic scenes were poorly shot and especially poorly acted by Ted. If they want to go drama, at least use people who can act dramatically.

I also agree that if I watched this in a box set in context of the season it wouldn't be as bad; even so it would still be horrid.

anyone notice at the end when Lily and Marshall hug after hearing the phone message, then the others come in and Robin is about to join in on the hug but then stops? that's gotta be good for a laugh...

im ok with shows like this being serious sometimes but they did it ****ing terribly.

HIMYM coulda been a great 4 season show but they are dragging it out. i also dont have it in me to quit b/c at this point im committed to meeting the mother

Parts of it were awful in the beginning, but it got much better as it went on. Barney's sum up of the night with KP was the highlight.

I enjoyed the Barney and Katy Perry stuff, but I'm not ready for yet another relationship in Ted's life with a girl who isn't the mother. How are we supposed to cheer along with Marshall's family for a kiss between Ted and some girl who isn't the mother? "Yay! Another chick who isn't going to work out!"

(in before "Zoe could be the mother") no she couldn't.

"Kids, you remember Zoe -- the girl who..."
"Who what, delivered us from her vagina?"

9 eps left this season. hmmm. when we meet the mother will we know it's her?

i liked the storytelling through marshall on the phone this week. way better than some of the gimmicks they've tried recently.
