Opening Barney was good, random calculator guy was good. Rest was not so good.

Agree with this. The episode was aggressively, relentlessly bad. It's like they're just ****ing with us now -- making crap TV on purpose. Virtually every set-up/punchline combo was like the anti-humor. Any good will I had going into it was sapped away by watching for 22 minutes.

Marshall inside the talking pregnancy test was facepalm-time. Maury Povich everywhere was death. And for some reason the laugh track seemed even more riotous than ever. It's like the studio audience was cheering Mad Max or something. For example, when the text came up saying this was Robin "crying on the subway..." there was a medium laugh, then the follow-up "...and doesn't care who notices" was accompanied by screaming hoots and hollers like it was the greatest joke of all time, even though the joke was telegraphed at the beginning when Ted's VO told us Robin would experience that moment that day. And it isn't even a funny situation in the first place.

Just wretched, wretched writing. Sitcoms like this just make Community, 30 Rock, even Running Wilde -- look sooo much better in comparison. Community, I will never take you for granted.

Meh, i quite liked it.

I always know what way the threads will go when i open them - if i thought an ep was alright it will be totally hated on. If i thought it was great the thread will be split 50/50 between those who hate on it and those who thought it was in the bottom 5 of all episodes the show has ever had.

how about moving on with the history? where is the fng mother already? ted needs to get married and have kids...

i want to enjoy this show cuz i used to love it so care to elaborate on what you liked? a review on a tv blog i frequent gave it positive feedback and i was kinda shocked. so any insight into what clicked would be great.

BTW, if I can take anything away from this bloody abortion of an episode, it's that we should be pretty sure now that the wedding at the end is Barney and Robin. Several moments in the last few episodes have not-subtly built towards Barney all but declaring his undying love for Robin.

But why was the day robin met Don so important in season 5? Old Ted says at the end of an episode: "And that's when she met Don". The relationship developed a bit and now in season 6 they are still talking a bit about Don. like Robin calls him a lot in episode 3 or in this episode they mention the hard breakup again? And finally Robin and Barney just didn't work in Season 5.

I think it will be Robin and Don. But than again, Ted once said never invite Ex's to your wedding. But Ted would be the best man?

I thought it was a good simple concept, all characters added something and i laughed a few times. As i say, i liked it, it isnt nearly a top 10 but i certainly didnt think it was bad. Maybe its cos i dont go into the eps looking for things to hate, but even the goofier stuff like the pregnancy test joke while it missed the mark it took up so little time that it can only detract so much. Plus that entire part of the story is the entirely made up part of the story within the story Ted is telling his kids so the "lack of realism" i dont care about.

Hmm I missed the whole lineup yesterday and Im not even worried about it. Doesnt bode well for CBS's comedies.

Seriously, for all those complaining about how horrible HIMYM is, watch Rules of Engagement or Two and a Half Men. In yesterday's two and a half men episode, there were two jokes about farts. She basically lifts her as* and farts twice, and the laugh track obviously goes off like its the funniest thing ever. Seriously, what the hell can the writers even possible be thinking in that situation? I mean I don't even know what kind of audience would find that humor funny. Maybe my sense of humor has gone down the tank, but I doubt it.

If HIMYM wasn't as good as it was for the first 4 seasons, I'd agree. But it was actually THAT good at one point. Those others were never close to that good. The quality drop is just shocking.

Yea 2.5 men always sucked. HIMYM used to be worth watching.

HIMYM can get 100 times worse and still be better than 2.5 men, doesn't mean it will be worth watching.

They already make the exact same show with the exact same concept using a somewhat similar character with Matt LeBlanc. Spinoffs rarely work and i cant think of one that has with a character so simplistic and reliant on other characters around them.

Give me a Dr Horrible show over a Barney show any day of the week.

Just give Segel and Neil a completely new show.
