I almost agree. Robin went from really cute, to damn near stunning, to not that bad looking to I wouldn't look twice seeing her in person except that she's in a show I like. Lilly's body has gotten better, but she's not even remotely as cute as she used to be.

And who in the hell was Cindy's girlfriend? My god she was adorable.

I thought this ep was pretty good. I don't care much for the Lilly/Marshall arc, but Marshall can deliver a freaking line like nobody else when he wants to.

This episode is getting overrated ITT imo, I think people are just comparing it to last season instead of the show as a whole. Saying that it was definitely better than the majority of last season and is a good starting point I suppose

How annoying would it be if the series ended all Lady or the Tiger on us. All the lead in, then Ted turns the corner and old Ted says, "there was a woman standing there with a yellow umbrella....and that's how I met your mother..."

And we just see him standing there talking some person, but we only see the umbrella, and never see who the mother is.

I think the writes are stupid enough, and might even be bad enough to end it along these lines simply to get everyone talking about their "epic" ending to the series.

This very much. Think it was very in line with last season, altough slightly better.

Agreed it was a reasonable episode and nothing more. The Marshall leaving work and hi fiving everyone was exceedingly lame, as was him sitting on the steps holding court with a bunch of who-the-f-are-theys. I know this is comedy and can be random but that was a little too far.

As to Hannigan having a boob job she said in an interview she wears a water bras all the time now and don't forget she had a baby 18 months ago. So I think it's unlikely but clearly would need to make a close inspection to be sure.

I highly doubt it would end like this. I'd imagine it'll be Ted being lame and saying a bad joke and the mother laughing and they both smile at each other.

I really hope it's not How I Met Your Mother and Dated Her For Three Years.

the difference between recent eps and the prime of the series back in the first few seasons is rewatchability, imo. i just tried to rewatch s6e1 and didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the first time (which wasn't that much anyway). back in the day i used to watch episode 4-5 times during the week just because. because...i have no life, but still. i won't be watching this a third time. nothing new to pick up, nothing so hilarious you need to see again, nothing so clever it's just fun to watch unfold. sigh.

Random thought. Only saw the ep once Monday, but here's what we know, right?

- Ted is nervous.
- He's giving a toast.
- Ted and Marshall are in the wedding party, and one is the best man.

Seems possible Ted is the groom, no? i.e. he's set to marry someone else and meets the mom at his own wedding?

i think Ted or Marshall specifically say that Ted is giving a best man speech. it's definitely not Ted's wedding since at the end, old Ted says, "i met your mother at the wedding"

IIRC, he only says speech, but again, only seen it once.

I'm not suggesting he's marrying the mom obv, I'm suggesting he's set to marry someone else (after like 3 dates, in classic Ted style), and then meets the mom at the wedding.

After having already been left at the altar once, I doubt the writers would put Ted through a second wedding-day-almost scenario. Once is already contrived; twice is absurd.

99.99% the wedding is someone else's (Barney's is my best guess) and Ted is the best man. Stop overthinking it -- Occam's razor up in here.

Good point. I didn't consider the Ted has had a botched wedding day before. That def takes the air out of this being his wedding.

Wedding Possibilities:

- Barney and Robyn marrying
- Lesbian wedding, Lesbian's roomate = future wife, her and Ted fall in love at the wedding
- Robyn marrying someone
- Barney marrying someone

Barney still not over Robyn is kinda weird. Writers had every opportunity to phase Barney irrevocably back into bachelor Barney with little or no reference back to Robyn and his feelings for her if they wanted. I mean they dropped Robyn's serious boyfriend no problem (love how this show has the balls to do this inbetween seasons), she's single, and Barney's emotions for her were specifically chosen to remain in-play.

I suspect Barney and Robyn are going the Ross-Rachel route if it's season 6 and Barney is pining for Robyn, with a wedding implied in the season opener. Though this show's shifting of plot (quite good btw) makes me secondguess any instinct I gather from episodes beforehand lol
