Not loving the show so far, but I appreciate that it could be the setup to something good.

Currently seems like it jumps from major plot point to major plot point without any room for character development. I hope the time jumps slow down once things kick off and we can learn who the characters are, and see parts of the world that aren't directly tied to the most important figures in the realm.

i guess s1 is largely prologue, which is why they're whipping thru so many big plot points

This is exactly what the book is. It seems like it was a mistake to turn it into a show. If it wasn’t GoT it’d be cancelled.

think it was glidus i heard talking about the adaption of got vs hotd, saying the former was mostly a process of taking a chainsaw to the books to carve out the 10 eps per season, whereas hotd is from a relatively sparse outline and they're filling in all the details. expanding on everything instead of reducing/condensing.

i wouldn't mind if it was a little slower, but if this is just the prologue for the main story, to give us context for who these ppl are and how they got here, then whatever. if the show slowed down and went like 6 seasons people would complain about that too.

Just my opinion of course, not saying others wouldn't have then complained.

I'm sure this is fleshed out more than what the books did, but it still views like an outline. I would have expected more, that is what made the early seasons of GOT GOAT, and the later seasons so awful.

I do agree with people though. the books aren't that detailed and after the first episode aired I tried reading fire and blood. I got to the end of s01 (chapter 29 I think) in like 30 minutes lol.

Feels like the direction of this show is bad. That's 2 eps in a row where it was filmed in such a way that it was practically impossible to see what was going on. The altercation at the wedding was just a mess of jump cuts that showed nothing. And also when Alicent walked in we were supposed to know that her choice of green dress signified... something?

It's like they have plot points to cover but no character motivation to justify them. Like, there was no real reason for Criston to kill Laenor's lover, and no reason for the lover to tell some random knight the top-secret info about Laenor's sexuality anyway.

Then after Criston murders a guest at a royal banquet, he just... walks away into the garden? And not only that, but the Queen is allowed to stroll out there and talk, alone and unprotected, to the killer... while a royal wedding is going on????

Nothing makes sense. This show is terrible.

if only they included some really ham-fisted dialogue to explain this was the queen choosing aegon over rhaenyra so that literally nobody could miss this key plot point before this next time jump, alas

I had the same complaints. I get what they were going for but ultimately it just looked like they couldn't figure out a way to have Criston kill him reasonably so they decided to skip what led to the fight and any consequences from it. As an aside how awful was "Look at they way this kingsguard stares at the one person he has to protect, they must be ****ing."

The chick who plays older Rhaenyra might be the ugliest chick I've ever seen. If they knew they were casting her, they should have casted an uglier chick for younger Rhaenyra, unless it's part of the story that her life ages her so poorly?

Uhhhhhh what the **** was the scene with Daemon's wife killing herself? Do the writers explain that in a behind the scenes thing like they did with Daemon's impotence?

my guess is she felt worthless and depressed because she couldn't make daemon happy and since she was dying anyway she decided to have a warriors death.

Aah I think I misinterpreted it, I thought it was similar to episode one where it was her or the baby but sounds like best possibility was only the baby? And then yeah as you said have a more noble death

pro: The new Alicent actress seems like a great choice shill wise.

con: There are still some weird ass scenes in this show.

Her glowup on this show is certainly impressive.

I think they did a good job of making the grown up Rhaenyra (above) look like her mother Aemma (below).

Yeah, I thought the exact same. Especially during the labor scene. The resemblance was uncanny.
