Even the wedding stuff was boring. This show is dull. One of the problems with GoT was there were so many characters very few had depth. Somehow this show with much fewer has given less depth to the characters.

I'm not sure if the goal is to continue to keep the viewer guessing and confused at every critical moment, but I found the opening scene with the "horse accident" and the wedding fight scene near the end to both be poorly written and directed. The buildup to the fight scene was quite good though. This episode was certainly much better than the last, but overall I'd just say it was quite watchable but nothing special.

Also, I can't wrap my head around Joffrey telling the knight Ser Blabbermouth his critically important secret, but whatever.

I liked almost the whole episode except the wedding fight which seemed like nonsense. Seems like cristan would be executed for killing that guy?

Also don't get why viserys doesn't just make rhynera queen right now before his death.

This was the best episode since episode one but the show is still mostly boring and bad. Done for now but might binge later if word is the second half is better. At this point still have zero character I give a duck about.

These characters all suck. Dameon is the only one that doesn't seem forced into the role. The show is trying hard to create tension and drama but it just isn't landing. There is also zero humor. Ofc I'll watch every episode anyway

really? i'm finding all the main characters to be pretty deep, complex, interesting, etc

plot continues to thicken, battle lines being drawn, teams formed and so on

I didn't even understand Cristan's motivations, nor the guy's motivations for talking to Cristan in the first place. Given his conversation with the Queen, knowing that he might be found out seems like it would be more likely to result in Cristan killing himself than starting a brawl at the wedding.

it was incredibly dumb of joff, but i think he was trying to relate to cole given they're in the same position, maybe make a new ally in town. obv he miscalculated

there are a lot of scenes in this that remind me of stuff in got, and that one made me think of in early s2 when varys met shae in tyrion's chamber

i'm good at keeping secrets for my friends / don't threaten me / who's threatening you? / i'm not ned stark, i understand the way this game is played / etc

incredibly enough, the scene most people are complaining about is not in the books. criston kills joffrey during a melee tournament in them. the tournament viserys mentions in this ep... I guess they didn't want to waste time with that.. too bad. it would make a lot more sense since during melees it's acceptable to kill your opponent.

To me, all of Cristan's reaction to what had happened was that he considered it was his fault and he was going to take the blame/punishment for it. Why this suddenly got directed outward is the part I didn't understand.

HoTD is scheduled for several seasons. With the time jumps not always being clear, I'm not sure when we will see Viserys and Alicent's son Aegon as a teenager or adult. A badass Aegon with entitlement issues and the new actresses for Rhaenyra and Alicent give the show a chance at a much needed refresh.
