The scene in question here had King Viserys, Princess Rhaenyra, Otto Hightower and Alicent Hightower already in the small council room when the other lords enter. Those small council lords would have been walking in the room wondering why the hell Alicent was there. There would have been nothing unusual about Alicent being in the hallway outside the small council room as though she was waiting on Princess Rhaenyra. Alicent should have been in the hallway outside of the small council and then when Lord Corlys and Princess Rhaenyra stormed out of the room, they both give Alicent a Clint Eastwood type stare.
As staged, this scene requires too much of a willful suspension of disbelief to enjoy it.
Haha I didn't pick up on any of that while watching, but I'm already suspending most disbelief on shows like this.
I keep reminding myself that Hodor, Stannis, Jorah, Ramsey, Commander Mormont, the Hound, Jaqen, Tromund, Davos and all them mostly came later. So this show has time to cast better.
