I share these sentiments and although I did make it through the entire episode it was very underwhelming overall and if you compare it to Game of Thrones first episode/first season it wasn't even in the same ballpark of story/quality.

GoT first episode is effectively word for word from the book, of course it was good. bad tv writers didn't ruin it.

watching the first episode...the young princess is quite strange looking. Almost deformed...her jawline is off

Obviously they are trying to create a Khalessi vibe
but she could be the "sister to the Feral Kid in the Road Warrior from the 80s".
She's ok .


I like the jousting scenes, and the dragons, and the king getting cut by that throne, and the Weirwood tree, and the Valyrian dagger so I'll watch more. I'll risk disappointment.

Modern media seems like a solved game:

- Every white man is a powerhungry evil pedo

- Every woman is powerful and amazing and/or at least heavily redeemable

- There are random black people who are the only virtuous ones but get shut down by the rich white evil pedos



This isn't hard someone give me a TV deal I know what the people want.

Thought episode 2 was good. It did a good job weaving a bunch of different storylines in to really get this season going now.

I liked episode 2. Daemon is the ugliest man I've ever seen. And agreed the girl is weird looking as well. Like an ai person.

another good ep, king seems to be alienating ... well, everyone. other than otto i guess. seems bad

yeah these are great

for those who don't know, and have the time, his livestreams are like 2-3 hour versions of these ^. his recaps are the polished, condensed versions. i found the first one very helpful, as i had a lot of questions. and he goes out of his way to explain without spoiling anything, which we love.

(think he might have answered a few spoiler questions for the book readers at the end of ep1 stream, idk i dipped out, but he gave loads of notice before going down that road)

the weird looking girl is an elf. you can tell because nearly a year passes between each episode but she does not age.

Episode 2 was very good

makes sense the weird looking girl is a targaryen with all the incest int he family and all. thing is the book says she's like the prettiest girl in the realm so it's kinda confusing.

loving the show so far. the fact that it's mostly politics and time still flies without me noticing proves it's greatness.

Book says that Alicent is the most comely girl in all the realm, not the Targaryen, no?

Really enjoying the lively comments here. Especially the incels bashing a 19 year old kid. She's supposed to be the hottest in the land, she looks funny. While you spend your days and nights rubbing it out and complaining about girls. Never change boomers of 2p2

Hoping E2 brings forward a character worth rooting for. There's definitely a good one to root against.

I think episode 2 did a great job of setting up future conflicts. Every major character had an escalation with at least one other character and most actually saw multiple disputes.

Princess Rhaenyra and Alicent went from best friends to likely rivals. Princess Rhaenyra and King Viserys might become estranged at his choice of new wife. King Viserys sent Prince Daemon away in episode 1, but Daemon proved he wasn't going to go away quietly. Prince Daemon and his whore Mysaria are now quarrelling about his actions. Mysaria is afraid because she thinks the realm might now see her as a threat. Lord Corlys is mad enough at King Viserys' choice of new wife that Corlys is willing to mix his loyalties and support a Prince Daemon coup. Lord Corlys also has to see the King's Hand Otto as a threat to be dealt with on some level.

Multiple conflicts for each person was one of the best parts of Game of Throne.

I get big time Ramsay Bolton vibes from Daemon in the way he talks and sounds. The actor who plays him must have read that he's a villain in the script and studied Ramsay.

yeah the dynamics of everything are very complex and interesting


take the showdown with daemon for one example. even though everyone probably thinks that he and viserys aren't going to hurt each other, you can't take any chances with the king. also, as he's no longer a dragonrider, what is he gonna get on a boat and make the long, annoying voyage over? foh

otto volunteers bc he wants to control the situation, but everyone also knows that otto isn't gonna get the job done, as he's like the one guy daemon def wouldn't fold to. he can't really kill otto here without starting a war, but otto's probably like "well in the oft chance he does decide to merk me, it'll prob guilt the king into marrying my daughter, so gg". but 99% of the time otto gets what he wants, daemon refuses to cooperate, and the feud escalates.

BUT, daemon knows all this too, which is why he deliberately provoked rhaenyra into turning up by claiming her house, dragonstone. he figured she'd be the one to show up, and she did. was this a test? just wanted to see her again? also interesting that she can punk him the same way he does to viserys, impunity bc you know the person doesn't want to hurt you. physically, anyway. and, for now.
