Where it stopped is best, in my opinion. One reason is because they can play what happens in our general into the show (they were going for balls out crazy in their cycle, but had no idea how balls out crazy real life was going to be). Remember, one of the big themes early in the season was $6 gas and rationing. That missed so badly. Another reason it's good it ended where it did is because you don't want that similar season 3 let down to happen in the theoretical final season. Everything fell apart for them, and now it's time to see if they can fix it or be done. I definitely would not want the general election to end season 4. Also, every season has ended on a light cliffhanger, except season 2. They like to pick up where they left off, literally (at the end of season 1, they were running in a park, and the beginning of season 2 was a continuation of that scene).
