I'm in the US and I've seen that image before I'm pretty sure and yet I'm still clueless lol. I'm guessing someone from the legislative branch being delightfully stupid and ignorant of any science whatsoever.

If I'm right I'm gonna say said person is from the bible belt.

edit: If you don't know what the bible belt is it's part of the southeastern part of the US where The Bible>science. The political leaders they elect reflect this as they are these living and breathing Sunday comics routine of absurdity that makes you wanna flip a coin on laughing hysterically or going into a fit of rage that a political leader could be in such a diminished intellectual state in a 1st world country.

Rewatched the courtroom scene. Most tense and dramatic scene involving basically a PowerPoint presentation I've ever seen

I must say that I thought this was the best mini-series I've seen. Really good job.

This post did not age well.

Anyway, I actually wanted to post for a different reason altogether. I was speaking to my mother and we got onto the topic of Chernobyl, given the recent radiation spike detected in Sweden. She was a govt. research scientist for most of her career and worked with a woman whose husband was some sort of technician at the Chernobyl site. What he went through sounds utterly horrific. He was in hospital for ten years after the accident, barely recovering from the radiation poisoning he suffered. After getting home and for the rest of his life, he couldn't be exposed to even small amount of sunlight as it would make his skin feel like it was burning up. His mood also drastically changed, the colleague would turn up at the institute at all hours seeking refuge because her husband had battered her severely. The last thing she told me was that her and my dad were invited for dinner once and after dinner he quite forcefully suggested that they wife swap for the evening, to which they politely declined and left. They didn't go for dinner a second time.

Anyway, not much to add to the discussion other than it was a great series and try not to get yourself into a similar situation if you can at all avoid it.

It's just a TV(technically not TV, it's HBO) show bro. Your mom was just letting you know she likes to party. Next you're going to tell me that she heard tell of the Loch Ness monster charging people $3.50.

Netflix has the series on 2 dvds for rental which I watched and enjoyed.

I am thinking of buying in eBay for $15 or so, and watch again every couple years.
