I think I am two episodes behind and probably done. I don't really care about any of the characters and I don't see any end in sight. I can't watch 5 seasons of despair.

thought 6 was good.

Spoiler:
ep 6 as pretty good I thought. I liked how they tried to use the whole freedom of speech this is America thing against the country.

I like how oblivious ms waterford is about what she created and the juxtaposition from her demanding to be heard to helping create a society that literally removes the tongues of non compliers.

also, "oh you gotta **** someone you dont want to ****. Poor thing" was a great albeit obv line.

havent seen 7.

I think the last couple of episodes have been an improvement on the rest of the season. It's obviously not as good as last season but it's definitely very watchable. I think being female makes a bit of a difference watching it tbh.

The writing has fallen off a cliff. So much cringeworthy, illogical stuff.

So it looks like the entire colonies storyline has been a waste of time?

Can someone at least explain why radioactive dirt is a valuable commodity?

The dialogue clearly explains this.

Not verbatim.

Mother who kept kid, "lucky I was not an adulterer, its why I was able to keep kid, they use the handmaids to scare us."

Being a handmaiden is a form of punishment.

The colonies is a significant aspect of the whole setting of Gilead, it fleshes out/expands the world to show what is going on there.

Now,bringing the named characters back from the colonies, that was some TV-show mechanics that was kind of disappointing.

Something like uranium/plutonium used for weapons? Just spitballing

Also it's possible they serve a purpose in a season 3 or 4. Riots and all.

Had not checked this thread between end of last season and today as I was behind, but I'm surprised some of you guys are hating. It's still pretty good to me, hell, Moss alone makes it worth watching.

Not AS good as first season, but still extremely solid.

Ooooof, just caught up with this. Lots to complain about, especially the tedium of S2E4 through S2E7. Most recent episode (S2E8, from 6 days ago) is a bit better.

Still, it's sufficiently entertaining that I'll likely watch through the end of S2, but man, the jump in quality from S1 to S2 is in the same tier as Jessica Jones and True Detective.

Of course this show will still be a lock to get nominated for the Best Drama Emmy because lol Hollywood, but it has no business winning that category this year (Moss remains superb though).

Just caught up on s2 and I'm also surprised at quite how badly received it has been here. Agree there have been some moments where I've raised my eyebrows, but overall it's been very watchable imo, especially Moss.

There is a drop but S2 of Jessica Jones was unwatchable, you are being way too harsh imo, this season still very watchable imo.

it started out too gruesome. then it continued as too dull and monotonous. I think it is picking up and looks promising.

Still don't know why they want bags of radioactive dirt.

I assumed they were cleaning up the site so it could be used for agriculture or some other purpose. What they're doing is pretty much what you do when cleaning up contaminated sites.

This is pretty spot on, imo. Agree it's been better recently. There's hopefully enough material to tell a good story, but it'd probably have been much better as a 7-8 episode season.

This, they refer to the colonies in season 1 as trying to make the ground fertile again.

Halfway through S2 (5 episodes?) and I'm kinda feeling this way. The first 3 episodes basically put us back where we started (felt like a video game that invents obstacles to make the game longer without actually adding anything to the experience) and it feels like the show has precisely one note: dirt, grit, depressing, there is no god watching over this place. We get it.

Really liked S1 but waiting for the show to actually go somewhere now.

Speaking of which, I don't get why Moira was ever at the red center - she never had kids?

You're insane. True Detective went from possibly the GOAT TV show season to a steamy pile of crap whereas The Handmaid's Tale went from amazing to good TV.

I don't think anything compares to what happened to True Detective lol.

It's not really the same thing anyway. True Detective is an anthology, the story starts completely anew every season, new cast, new everything, so, much more potential volatility in quality there.

Season 1, Handmaid's Tale was the best on TV. This season, it's among the best.

I think the only show I've enjoyed more than Handmaid's Tale over the last 3-6 months or something is The Terror.

I didn't watch S2 of True Detective as everyone said how terrible it was but I can't see how THT can be considered that bad a drop. S1 was better but it's still very good television. Definitely would be in top ten shows I have watched this year so far.
