This thing has already filmed next season, so she ain't leaving. I'm guessing more soap opera ****, instead of the potentially interesting stuff of how the takeover happened. Keep us updated.

Only noticed now that the new season has dropped. S3 was so lolbad that I had completely lost interest, but I guess I'll watch just so I can complain about the show ITT.

2 eps into S4 it's alright so far. It sucks that we know June isn't living Gilead yet once again they are trying to build tension towards an escape attempt that we already know will either backfire or result in her deciding to stay. I guess the stuff over in Canada with governor Joseph Fiennes or whatshisname could get interesting(ish).

I'm calling it, this season will end in a teary scene where June's at the Canadian border, she can see the hubby and both daughters on the other side, she could just walk over and get back to normal life but she'll be like nah sry bro got **** to deal with and turns around to save some random handmaid's kid or whatever. Tears ensue. Dramatic music. Hubby is shown screaming after June in slow motion. OITNB girl and Gilmore girl girl are holding him from trying to stop June because they know what's up: It's absolutely mandatory that June stays in Gilead alone. Because how else would they get paid for doing a season 5? A 2-minute zoom into June's eyes. They are teary but determined. Fade to black. When are the Emmys again?

This is probably shallow but June is just not sexy, at all. Not buying all these guys (Luke, Fred, Nick) being supposedly so obsessed with her.

I'm all caught up.

The good: Something is finally happening and the show has broken the June is forever stuck in Gilead cycle. Although she'll almost certainly end up back there in exchange for Hannah or something, because obv we need to reunite her and Aunt Lydia for a dramatic FINAL SHOWDOWN.

The bad: Agree with the above comments about the train scene. Nice music choice with Street Spirit though. I burst out laughing when, of all the people in the world it's the OITNB gurl who just happens to be chilling in, out of all the locations in the world, not only in ****ing Gilead, but also at the site that just got heavily bombed, and saves June. Was it even foreshadowed in any way that she also works for the Gilead dark ninjas or whatever their thing is called? Wasn't she shown working as a councelor trying to find new homes for the Gilead kids in Canada or some **** like 20 minutes earlier? She was literally just chilling at her office and then BOOM she has been teleported to Gilead, bombs are blowing, obv she's in the same city/suburb/street where June just happens to turn up in. I'm all for using a bit of creative licence and have slightly improbable things happen to the characters to keep the plot moving... but come the **** on. Also, in the ep before that one, those were some seriously impressive crossfit moves where she jumped out of that giant milk tank and handily pulled eyepatch gurl up with one hand as well. I guess Gilead has some great gyms despite all the misery?

The ugly: I'm so ****ing over June's aggro lectures with close-up shots of her face. And what the hell was that scene with June raping her husband? Dafuq? Also why is June so incredibly dumb and stubborn insisting on doing ******ed kamikaze moves 17 times every episode yet we are supposed to believe she's some heroine mastermind? The only reason she's alive is sheer luck. It's so hard to root for her at this point.

This show needs some new writers. Handmaid's has always been a feminist show and in the early seasons it did a tremendous job exposing many things that are wrong in today's America. But at this point it's basically screaming at the viewer that all men should just cut their dicks off. Too much noise, too little substance. The message that could be beautiful and powerful is completely lost by now, and I wonder if the writers are aware of that or just don't care at this point. Either way, what they have done is make the heroine of the show pretty much the exact same as its villains, and I just have a feeling that's not what they're trying to achieve at all.

The only show I've ever hatewatched as hard is The Walking Dead and this is headed down the same route. Makes for a good drinking game tho, counting every scene that includes Elizabeth Moss staring into the camera either sad, desperate, angry or confused (or all of them at the same time for a double shot).

Yes the twitter army is not happy about the scene where June rapes Luke. I guess it was supposed to show how Gilead had damaged her and made her like her oppressors somehow? At any rate June gets less likeable with every episode, to the point I'm now actively rooting against her.

I'd much rather see the show dramatically kill her off and focus on the eye patch girl at this point. It really needs to be done because her plot armour is just ridiculous. Speaking of: how the hell does the officer who was verifying the identity of the passengers on the ship not know what June looks like? Isn't she the most wanted woman in Gilead? It's laughable that she could just say "I'm Jane Smith" or whatever and the officer is like, "OK works for me".

I'm glad we're out of the endless escape-catch cycle and hope this moves the story along and brings new possibilities.

I don't get how Chicago is the front line. It looks basically destroyed/empty and pretty easy for Gilead to move in and make it 100% theirs.

Where is this magic forest where June and Captain Eyebrows had the secret meeting? In Gilead? In Canada? I'm assuming in Canada, since surely they wouldn't send June back to Gilead armed only with two agents. Seems awfully easy for someone to cross that border without hassle though? If crossing the border was so easy for Captain Eyebrows, who clearly doesn't like anything about Gilead and just wants to be with June, why doesn't he just stay there? Why were we led to believe for 4 seasons that it's nearly impossible to get out of Gilead yet apparently you can just cruise into Canada? Yeah I get that Captain Eyebrows is a commander, but he's been that for like 3 seasons now. Why didn't he just drive the **** out with June in the trunk or something?

That was one of the better episodes this season but it was still complete trash. I'm not sure if I've ever watched a full season of any show with writing as bad as this one. I really don't want to keep watching but the plothole / June staring into the camera drinking games are fun

Well now what? Is June ****ed? She’s not headed back to Gillead no matter what, right?

I feel like we’re not done with Aunt Lydia either.

I would bet money that June will end up back in Gilead. She'll do some heroic (=moronic) move, and fittingly out of all places she will end up in the exact same little town as Aunt Lydia, eyepatch girl and creepy teen.

My guess is something like this:

She realizes she has the hots for Eyebrows so she ditches the boring hubby and takes an uber for a romantic getaway with Eyebrows somewhere in the backwoods of Gilead. They start plotting a way to get Hannah back, but something goes wrong, Eyebrows gets hung on the wall, June gets captured and ends up with Lydia and Eyepatch and creepy teen, obv still no one kills June. June saves everyone, escapes back to Canada with Hannah and eyepatch girl, the creepy teen probably sacrifices herself somehow so that they can keep escaping. Once June and Hannah are back in Canada reunited with the boring hubby, he offers to start fresh with their full family intact. But because June is a strong independent heroine, she will decline the offer because the writers want to send some incredibly half-assed pseudo-feminist message, and instead of a happy family ending we will finish the show with an 18-minute shot of June staring into the camera and declaring her plan to go after every Gilead commander just because she's a strong independent heroine.

I don't think there's basically any chance she won't go after Hannah next season and that won't involve her going back to Gilead and her ending up in some dire circumstances there.

Let me get this straight. June testifies at Fred's trial, telling the world about his vicious serial rapes, beatings, inhuman treatment, etc. And then right after that, the authorities who have Fred in confinement decide it would be a good idea to let that same witness drop by Fred's room and hang with him for a while, unattended by any security guards, and have a cocktail with good old Fred?

zero for 21, setting a record for most Emmy losses in a single year.

"The success of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ remains paramount for us," Jordan Helman, Head of Scripted Originals at Hulu, told Deadline last month. "That said, what is also most important to us is that we close out that show in creative fashion that feels organic so we are in constant communication, literally right now, talking with Bruce [Miller], Lizzie [Moss] and Warren [Littlefield], about what the best way to end ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ is. We haven’t landed on an answer… I imagine we’re going to be able to answer that question in the coming months."

I think most of us dropped out after season 2, and a bunch more after season 3. There might have been a few left for season 4, but anyone still around for the new season that starts tonight??

I considered picking it back up since I’m out of shows now. But I don’t know…. 2 full seasons of crap to wade through doesn’t seem like the best idea. But if season 5 is good, I’d reconsider lol

I'm two episodes into the new season. To get to the next level, this show really needs more extreme closeups of Elizabeth Moss.
