Was she really a self hating closeted lesbian? Was it just because her boss said he wasn't ready for sex yet, and that one moment of rejection pushed her over the edge? It wasn't clear to me, and regardless it didn't really explain her instant transformation.
Don't worry, none of the scenes in this show make any sense these days. I have a lot of trouble trying to understand any of the characters' motives most of the time.
-What was that zoom into June's face at the end of the episode?
-Why did the handmaid who got shot go nutso all of a sudden? I can kind of get her freaking out over being scared for her baby / the weird bullying thing earlier in the episode, but there's been 0 character development over her character at all, and there was nothing indicating that she would randomly snap like that (as opposed to what Emily and the one-eyed girls did in the earlier seasons)
-Speaking of which, wtf was that SHAME! SHAME! scene
-Seems really credible that June would be allowed to randomly walk away minutes before that speech in Washington and have some happy alone time in front of the monument... and how about that shouting match with Serena that literally 1000 people would hear?
-Why does June keep saying super mean things to people who have 100% control over her faith? We are supposed to buy that she's smart but she just keeps saying **** like "I should have let you die" (Serena) and "you monster, you are making your wife suffer" (to Bradley Whitford)
-Why does June never get punished for anything anymore? All the stuff she's pulled off this season would have had anyone else missing limbs but somehow she can do whatever she wants
-So Lydia never came to the conclusion that there was something going on with the Waterfords despite the 135135913 absurd things that took place when June was staying there, but now she's somehow convinced that the Lawrences are an issue? And isn't Lawrence supposed to be a mega boss, suuuuuure seems credible Lydia just randomly moves his handmaid elsewhere
Not to mention to incredibly ridiculous end of season 2, or the aforementioned Lydia flashbacks that made no sense at all, etc etc
The only things that are kind of interesting / sensible are the scenes that take place in Canada. Although they are also pretty dumb in many ways (whenever international politics are involved, as if anyone would actually negotiate with Gilead etc), I'm at least a little bit invested in the characters over there.
But yeah man this show has fallen off a cliff. Fire all the writers and maybe you can somehow still salvage some of it?
