love this show - I think a major reason why female characters generally suck is that they purely exist as females with female specific problems and motivations

hacks is one of the first of anything I've ever seen with female central roles where if you simply recast them as men you wouldn't need to change a single line in the script - just swap the bra drawer for sock drawer, make the brief discussion about makeup instead about shaving - etc etc just minor cosmetic changes and it all fits

absolutely love the show

superbly written and cast

really unsure about the direction season 3 will take it though but will 100% watch this show through to the end

I mean if you hate women then yeah you're gonna be frustrated that writers generally create female characters that have female problems.

This is one of the shows where it's more about the performances than the plot, especially since you pretty much know that regardless of what "might" happen Ava and Deborah are always going to be working together or the show wouldn't be the show. Some of the supporting roles are also very solid, like the agent, plus Laurie Metcalf was superb in her mini arc.
