The focus group episode was great. A+ for the 100 different times they said that Mitch could get anyone off. "I'd like to see him get my brother in law off".

The last one was pretty off, but it still had a lot of funny moments.

Why'd all the posting dry up in this thread?

Focus group episode was indeed great, one of the best of the season imo.

My guess is that people have lost enthusiasm because they know the show is going to get canceled and don't want to commit too much energy to it. Also doesn't help that the scheduling is so erratic.

^^^ eps have been getting a bit worse as well, not bad, still enjoy them, but the show started off so strong i guess its hard to keep that up

I feel like the timing has been off too in the past few episodes. In the first part of the season the jokes were crisp and the pacing of the episodes was great. Something with that pacing just seems off recently. Still decent.

It's been the same editor for most of the episodes. I know the guy who edited two of the early episodes (great comedic timing as an editor). Her style is much more about "cutting" the timing than having it flow naturally. A lot of those problems are in the writing (in my opinion). They're forcing in lines to try to make things happen, they don't really work on the stage, and then they try to fix it in editing. I think they probably need to trim at least one or two shots from every gag to make them work better, but that's kind of the show (it not giving an eff about what works). The focus group one was really well done, though, showing that the problems are much less likely to be editing and more in the writing/directing.

Has it been confirmed this will be cancelled? If not, what % does it have to survive?

Has not been canceled, but it would be unprecedented for FOX to renew something at these ratings. So, put the chance of renewal at around 1-5%. Maybe they could ship it over to FXX, that's about the only hope I can see of a renewal.

They essentially tried to save it by pairing it with B99 (already renewed), which was doing fine on Sundays. It tanked both.

I agree. Although the most recent episode was mildly amusing, the plot of Stew and Deb each trying to maintain their positions of having remembered their anniversary seemed pretty stupid and contrived, and was out of character for each of them.

Furthermore, the linchpin of the comedy of lies was that Stew was unable to get a reservation at this trendy restaurant without Dean's help, yet practically the entire cast of the show ends of being at this restaurant, in multiple parties, all at the same time.

Ugh

It shouldn't have to be spelled out that Dean obviously got them all reservations.

Nice finale. I'm hoping it ends up being the season finale and not a series finale. Hopefully they can get a run elsewhere if it can't stay at Fox. We still have to see the inevitable Claire Dean romance and so much more.

Grinder rests.

I'm kinda over this show, it was awesome at first and then lost the thread a little. Those early days were truly blissful. Imo the Grinder should probably rest, yes.

"You got me off, son. Just like you said you would."

"No, dad, we got you off...together." (funny look from Judge)

Season finale was really enjoyable. I guess we'll see if it gets another season...somewhere.

He didn't say Grinder Ends, he said Grinder Rests, so that means it could be back. He's just taking a rest.

I agree. In hindsight, the Maya Rudolph arc was the beginning of the end, since rather than recovering from this debacle the writers then launched into the final, slow descent though the prolonged malpractice arc.
