Hulu might be a more likely landing spot, but who knows? It may just be a show you remember forever being in your life for just one night.

Was so classic when Dean said the network saved the show with the random casting addition. The show is so elite, Olyphant has been so great, as well.

Most of you probably won't have the attention span for this, but here's some classic Bob Newhart, with some great facial expressions. It takes a bit to ramp up, because it's intending to start out seriously, but once it gets going, Newhart is priceless here. Backstory is he just started hosting a book show on a local TV station, can't book a guest, finally gets one at the last minute who had written a 150 page book on the history of the universe, and the guy cancels. He does end up with a guest, but it couldn't have gone worse for his first show. It almost looks like he wasn't even told what the guy was gonna say, and his job is to just try to keep it together like an interview with a designated end time, no matter what is said.

I hope that isn't the end of Zadak. That guy had some good ideas.

This week's episode was really weak, especially with the hackneyed story arc of Dean sleeping with his therapist. I hope that this is not a sign that the writers are running out of story lines.

Agree. They turned Fred Savage's character from the exasperated voice of reason into a pathetic bumbler in this episode. Hopefully back on track in upcoming weeks, past episodes just before this were fantastic. Need more Olyphant.

I think they're trying to something out, but didn't realize it wasn't going to work until it was too late. I think they'll get it back once they finish with this arc.

yeah---I'm not sure what they are doing here but wasting 3-4 episodes on this awful Dean-o/Maya Rudolph/Savage thing has really put a damper on an all time season.

Even the Dad's character has suffered. If not for Zadak saving last weeks episode Grinder would be 0 for the last few.

I've actually liked the past few. Ben Savage is playing a great straight man, but people not believing him and thinking he's gone all crazy has created a new dynamic. If the show was just Dean trying to lawyer up with no legal experience then the show would have gotten dull after a season. I think ultimately these episodes (which are admittedly a bit worse) will help the show in the long term.

I'm with Buff.

How can you dislike an episode that has the line, "Nonsense, you're just as much a lawyer as anyone in this room."?

That line was amazing, and we always get the great facial response from Claire.

"Really? All of the plants are plastic."

idk im starting to not like the dad anymore bc they've made his character so ridiculous. still holding out hope for a zadek-deb storyline or a savage/olyphant buddy ep

whole therapist arc was horrible and unwatchable. Hope it'll get back on track now.

It was almost worth it for Maya's freak out when he was breaking up with her. That woman can sell crazy like few others.

I'm glad she's gone, the whole subplot with her and Dean was bad for the show imo. I've never cared for that actress at all.

I like Maya and I get what they were trying to do - role reversal between Stu and Dean but it failed on so many levels. In particular we know that Stu isn't crazy and paranoid. We know the father is an idiot and not the voice of reason. So while it's possible that Dean could temporarily take on a serious persona instead of reversing the straight man and funnymen roles IMO it would have worked better if Dean just out-serioused Stu for a few episodes.

And everything about Maya's character was just dumb. Should have been a completely different motivation.

Like have Claire start dating a really serious, button down corporate lawyer or accountant type so Dean gets jealous and competitive, "If that's the kind of man she wants, that's the kind of Dean she'll get".

+1 I hate her. Anything she is in is worse because she is in it.

Didn't watch any of that scene or any scene with her the last couple of episodes. No regrets!

The line, "You don't think I wanna get my father off?", was amazing.

Better episode last night than previous couple of weeks. Seemed like it was getting back to the earlier feel of the show.

Weird though, when 2005 Dean breaks up with his girlfriend (in his apartment with his brother and wife present) there is a little girl sitting at the table behind them. Obviously the Sandersons oldest daughter would be around at that time and be 4-5 but to have her sitting there in the background and have no one reference her in any way or even look at her....a little strange.

Probably had her with a line or two and then cut it but she got left in the background.

"You think his name is Mitchard?" "What else would it be?"

I loved him using his mechanic backstory on the guard. I was surprised his phone didn't say 'grinder rests' on it at the end.
