New brother buddy lawyer comedy produced by Rob Lowe and starring Lowe along with Fred Savage. The waitress (Mary Elizabeth Ellis), Stevie (Steve Little), and William Devane round out this "star-studded" cast of the best new show this fall.
First episode didn't particularly impress me but enough to keep me around.
It has the same type of overdone humour that Brooklyn 99 has but in Brooklyn 99 I can tell the show isn't taking itsself seriously and I'm fine with it. I didn't get that vibe from the first episode of The Grinder though, which worries me.
just fyi, if the impression you ever get from The Grinder is that it "takes itself seriously" you are not watching the right show. just listen to the ridiculous over the top music or look at the Dad character who relentlessly backs Lowe, the entire show is one giant gag.

I finally watched all three, and while I'm still not convinced the thread isn't a level, the thread is right in with the tone of the show. I find it enjoyable.
I'd describe it as "completely lacks self awareness, while being completely self aware". It's pretty unique in that regard.
The scene with Todd and Stewart was hilarious in the last episode.
I hated this show until about halfway through the first episode and then something clicked and I started to really like it. Kind of reminds me of Bojack Horseman in that you have to get beyond a ridiculous premise but once you accept it and just go with it, it's hilarious.
I'm glad they see its potential. I'm not sure how they can save it (unless it's doing well in DVR), but any extra episodes are good. Seems like this would fit in well with their Sunday comedy lineup with the much lower ratings expectations....but animation...
Another episode of pure unadultered perfection. Really showing their range with the well placed pop culture reference- Harmon/Summer School. Crazy that a show that's first episode could have been the best episode in television history is now starting to hit its stride.
