I heartily applaud their one-and-done decision, more shows should follow suit. But everybody's greedy and looking for that gravy train.

if you watch a bad season of television, that is your problem. its not the problem of the people who make it. there is soooo much tv to watch. what you do with your time is up to you

And yet your opinion is now in the minority. CRAZY.

TV is art. It's not a ham sandwich you choose to eat or not. It exists as a thing in time and space. It can be cherished even. And some of us cherish the fact that something nearly perfect doesn't need to be ruined for dollars. That said you're entitled to your way too. It's simply different than how a lot of us see it.

That's most certainly how I feel about the Matrix though. Had they never made a 2 and 3, my overall enjoyment of the 1 would be totally different.

Excellent choice on never seeing the 2 or 3. Sadly when it came out the hype was too great to resist. I think I did manage to skip the 3 in theatres.

The challenge of course is some of these sequels are incredible. I seem to be running pretty good avoiding the bad. Blade Runner and Mad Max were SO good. I can't imagine not seeing them. But man, most of the time it's a mess.

Why encourage the making of bad TV?

What else do you want to see from Godless? What story or character arcs are there left to explore?

They killed most of the good characters and the arcs of the remaining ones are nearly done. Didn't see the point either.

So you want to see another TV show set in the Wild West. That's fine but that doesn't need to have anything to do with Godless.

yeah, i'll concede that the characters and story in godless was wound up very nicely. my argument was just that it's silly to complain when more episodes of a great tv show are produced, just cuz the episodes are significantly worse than previous ones.

but if the same creative/production team who did godless made a "godless season 2" it'd probably be good, if it had all new characters and story, or some kind of continuation of the story in season one. could even be a prequel.

could be interesting if Godless followed a similar non-sequential season by season arc as Fargo.

Although I generally agree that it's good that they just finish instead of running things into the ground until it's bad, there are some places they could go with this show.

They could do a show about the women rebuilding their town and running it. Probably the most interesting part of this show is the idea of an old west town that is mostly women. The first/only season of the show made a mistake, I think, by spending too much time on the central conflict between the mentor/protege outlaw men (yawn, been there, done that).

Another potentially very interesting show would by jump forward 10 years and tell Truckee's story as a mixed race young man trying to make it in that world.

Just finished this and although I loved the finale I was questioning exactly the same things as filthy vermin in post #2.

Also, how many guys was Griffin supposed to have in his gang? I thought I heard about 30 in a previous ep, but there had to be loads more in that final shootout right?

30 men is quite a bit, especially when the main action takes place in front of a hotel entrance.

Loved this. Great acting, writing, and cinematography. I esp enjoyed
Spoiler:
How suddenly Sam Waterston went out. I love when shows have the balls to kill off main characters like that. You think he's going to be the hero then, BOOM! Nope.

Finally watched this. Really Goode. Great production values, cinematography, acting. Didn't know who Michelle Dockery was, but man, what a screen presence. Watched it in two nights, didn't want it to end.
Spoiler:
I kind of had a different take on the finale than post #2. (Except for Whitey. They are there to kill everyone. Seriously kid, what were you thinking.)But the sheriff and Goode came in after everyone shot their wad.
So it kind of made sense to me.

Yeah, but I was watching gang member after gang member getting shot and thinking this is way more than 30 men.

Didn't ruin anything for me, but I think I'll watch the shoot out again later just to check.
