Had some free time yesterday, sat down to watch the pilot, ended up bingeing five episodes.

That's no big deal for most of you, but it's a big deal to me, I never watch tv, and haven't binged a show since Breaking Bad.

So yeah, I like it.

This was a great binge.

the payoff of April Ludgate's storyline was pretty hilarious.

Welfare Queen was probably my favorite persona. She had some great in the ring one-liners.

I've seen five eps. GF wanted in, so I rewatched those five last night. Line that slayed me:



Just dropped me, the way he delivered the line.

Watched the final five eps last night.

Give the girl who played Ruth all the Emmy's.

Give the writers at least a nomination.

Booking agent who showed Sam and Ruth the Mayan theater looked more like a wrestler than any of the wrestlers on the show, including the guys.

Brooke had some time in wrestling but not sure if she ever had any matches.

There were quite a few cameos from wrestlers in the show, including Machu Picchu's brothers and the trainer in the first couple episodes, also the guy Debbie slept with. Welfare Queen was also a pro wrestler (Awesome Kong), though I didn't even recognise her until I heard she was in it, she's lost a lot of weight since then.

Enjoyed this show btw, was a fun watch.

Anyone watch the accompanying GLOW documentary?

Documentary, you say?

Yeah, was very good.

Just look under documentaries on Netflix and there is one on GLOW. They had a reunion for the show. Americana, who I assume Liberty Bell was based on, was still looking pretty good. Mount Fiji, who Machu Picchu based on, is the sad story. Being 350 pounds isn't all fun and games.

Watched the doc last night, thought it was ok. The nostalgia was fun for a while (The Farmer's Daughter! The phone booth gag!), but there was a lot of filler, too (way too much "here's 30 secs of this girl rapping, to remind you what she looked like back then).

And yeah, seeing the big girls' current health problems was a downer.

Overall enjoyable show. Brie killed it.

Just listened to Maron on Bill Simmons' podcast. He says they start filming Season Two in a few weeks.

WOOT!

(pretty awful job by Simmons on this one, constantly asking questions then interrupting the answers. i didn't make it to the end. Maron's few mins talking about Glow was a lot of fun, though.)

Simmons is NOT a great interviewer. It's very difficult to listen to some of his interviews.

The part that made me laugh the hardest was when Maron was trashing Brie, and he goes, "Her hair is brown...the color of ****!" I don't really like his standup or podcast, but I like Maron a lot onscreen. Enjoyed his IFC show a lot.

Brie still looked super hot even though her hairstyle is incredibly unflattering. Those leotards that are cut narrow in the pelvic area are something. Also, Betty Gilpin has some topless scenes in Nurse Jackie, holy cow, they're real and they're spectacular.

My favorite line from the show was also from Maron, his first: "Well, I said I'd do anything, so here we ****ing are! Hello, ladies..."

I'm midway through Jeff Bridges now, and OOOOOF! Bridges has 1000 cool stories, and Simmons is rushing him, cutting him off, constantly crying about running out of time...it's a podcast! You can go as long as you want! Make it a two-parter! or better yet, don't start it with 40 minutes on a Celtic getting hurt, then tacking Jeff Bridges onto that because it's not enough to be a stand-alone podcast!

BTW, everyone should listen to the Bridges one, he's cool as hell (a little annoying that he's telling mostly the same stories he told from his Howard Stern appearance, but I guess if I were doing the publicity rounds, I'd be retelling my Greatest Hits stories, too).

Season 2 is now up!

I have to say I really enjoyed S1. I didn't really feel like a second season was warranted. I thought they kind of left things off in a good place.

S2 seems like they were spitballing for things to do. They have one episode that they do completely in characters.

S1 was kind of a surprise. S2 isn't completely terrible, but I find myself half watching a lot of the eps. I've got 2 episodes left, but I think I preferred S1 by far.

i finished s2 already which should tell you everything about my enjoyment of it. it was good, no complaints. hard to compare to s1 since it was so long ago and i dont really remember. maybe i felt like s1 was amazing and this might not have quite reached that level except for 1-2 episodes, but overall it was very solid

A fun ride like s1, I think if you’re old enough to remember the Super Bowl shuffle its more likely you’d like glow in general. I like the depiction of the fans which is half the show for live events. Glow is an intentional train wreck and through that lens they nailed it for s2

If the devil managed a Sizzler was a great line

I assume you are talking about episode 8. I absolutely loathe that episode. Enjoyed the season overall though. I'm curious as to why it hasn't been renewed by hbo yet. I wonder if they are intentionally paralelling the show or if they really aren't sure there will be another season.

Because it's on Netflix? But I am hoping there is another season. I enjoyed both seasons so far even though it isn't anything special it is enjoyable enough to watch.

Netflix usually renews pretty early too.

Didn't they release season two less than two weeks ago?
