I loved Shiela! Also like the black couple...wanted to see more of their home life.
My only complaint is that Brie is a tad too skinny in this...needs some meat on her bones.
Might be wrong but I think it was intentional. She's skinny because she doesn't have a real job and sometimes she doesn't even have what to eat. There's an ep where she states the Mexican food she was eating was her lunch and dinner.
I had no intention of watching this. But I was lured in by the promise of getting a look at Brie's boobs. And then spent the next 5 or 6 hours and watched the whole thing.
I was hooked on Maron's line: 'ok, I said I'd do anything, so here we f'ing are. Hello ladies'.
Im a product of the 80's having went through high school and college during that decade. So I hold some nostalgia for the era which may have influenced my affinity for the show.
The leotards are amazing (but then yoga pants aren't a bad alternative), but damn the rest of 80s fashion for women seemed terrible and not very flattering.

80s fashion is appalling and the hairstyles are worse.

they'll probably say something similar about our fashion in the future. that's how things work. all the distinct era fashions are laughed at in the future.

That's true to a certain extent but I think you will find people look back on 50s & 60s fashion a lot more kindly than the 80s. Especially hairstyles.
The finale was a bit of a disjointed mess but watchable.
The main thing the show suffers from is a problem shared by OITNB and other shows like it with big ensembles: They don't have enough time to devote to the back stories of all the characters, which makes them feel at times like nothing more than filler. Through the entire season we know very little (to nothing at all) about multiple characters. I'm not sure how to fix that but it's an issue.

I'd watch a second season probably.
Jenji (creator of OITNB/Weeds) is an executive producer of GLOW.
Show was good, I really enjoyed it. I think however, it would have been much more interesting to do a show like this about something like ECW or that show that had underage kids wrestling in the 80s.
that's a great feel good show. I think they could have gone deeper on some of the character but I love how they look back on how crazy we were in the 80s (welfare queen, choose life not drugs etc..).
The doc on the actual glow shows the new show isn't that far fetched from the original. Never heard of the original, I was too young but loved wwf growing up.
