What about the song that is played during critical moments towards the end of each episode? Anyone have that one?

I'm really enjoying this show, especially being Korean. Although I don't speak/understand most of it, my wife is fluent and this is one show that we are really enjoying watching together. Most of our tv tastes don't intersect, as she is usually on the Bravo/HGTV train.

Understanding and knowing Korean culture enhances the viewing experience (sunbae, hyung, and just general actions and mannerisms) but, from the looks of this thread, is definitely not needed.

Very well edited and subtitled.

Hell, for me, I get additional enjoyment out of learning about Korean culture this way. I feel like I understand much of it already. I find their culture super interesting.

Also, I'm totally gonna be saying "Fighting" a lot from now on.

Honestly all the tracks they use for this show are great, even songs in genres of music I don't listen to (Dubstep), are used well here and I enjoy them.

At what point? During the deathmatch? I've found most of the songs so I could post up a playlist or something.

This one?

Yes, thank you! The intro to that song is always great because it always denotes a critical moment.

Yeah, the people on this show crack me up because Korean people are so corny and the way they needle each other and over-emote is so damn funny. Plus, hot Korean women.

Def do this! There was also a song only used in early season 3 I believe that I really liked. I think it's Korean. You maybe haven't gotten that far yet though?

Yeah I've not started S3 yet but feel free to put a timestamp of the episode it's in and I'll see if I can find it.

Yep, this is my favorite. One of my best friends is Asian, so I called him "sunbae" the other day, and he asked me how the hell I picked up such an obscure word.

If you guys find a soundtrack for this show, please post it. I'm afraid to search for this kind of stuff (songs, Twitter names, etc.) until I finish the show. Some of them have been easy to find, though, like this one (which has been stuck in my head all day).

I just finished the Korean version of Liar Game (2014), the show that Genius Game has been accused of plagiarizing. It was pretty good, I'll give it 8/10. The first two episodes were a bit boring because the first round game sucked and because they spent a lot of time getting into the characters and setting up the personal drama etc. when I really just wanted it to be focused on cool games like The Genius. Another small criticism I would give is that the eps are 1 hour long, but should've just been 40 mins long imo. But anyway, after the first two episodes the games got a lot more interesting and there were more focus on them, plus the surrounding story and the whole resolution to that was done well enough towards the end. It seems like the second season is gonna be more fun.

I might start on the Japanese original version now (I had actually intended to do this, but alas, I downloaded the wrong one :P) that has 2 seasons and a movie I believe.

Watched first ep of the Japanese version.

It's way more... Goofy. The Korean version is much more serious (think Nolan's Batman universe vs. older Batman movies) and has a much higher production value. And it seems like the Korean version added a whole plot that isn't in the Japanese one. I prefer the Korean version, though I'm tempted to fast forward through the Japanese season one so that I can watch the second season just because I wanna see the new games.

I enjoy how they play the Dexter theme song when people are plotting to get rid of another player. So sinister.

http://www.kpopstarz.com/articles/12...nch-reboot.htm

"On October 17, CJ E&M announced they have sold the social reality game show format for "The Genius Game" to Fremantle Media France. Fremantle Media France holds the rights to broadcast in French speaking countries."

+

"In the meantime, fans can look forward to the upcoming French version of "The Genius Game," as well as one in the Netherlands where the format was also sold this past February."

Cliffs: We're getting at least a Dutch and French version too.

And from the same article:

"Currently, Korean cable network tvN is airing its third season with record-high ratings. Ratings for the first two seasons were consistently high. Both seasons ranked number one in its prime time slots among adults aged 20-49, according to CJ E&M."

So I don't think we need to worry about whether or not there'll be more seasons :P

S02E04:

Spoiler:
I was lukewarm on Hyongchul (sp?), but his betrayal of Eunkyul was really well done and made total sense for him long-term. I think Eunkyul's bet there is highly questionable, as he comes into the episode saying Jiwon and Hyongchul need to be split up. Even though he suspected Hyongchul might be lying, he had a big enough lead that he could have risked less and still been in okay shape. I guess it ultimately boils down to how much he trusts Hyongchul, but I have no clue why he had much reason to trust him, so it seems poorly played to me.

Just learned the game rules for S3E6 (Stormy Stock Market)

Spoiler:
Amazing game design and the makeup of the remaining cast should make it really interesting. I think most people will end up with a lot of information so Yoohyun should probably have a good shot based solely on his (presumed) bet-sizing edge.

Stoked for the Hyunmin/Dongmin F2 alliance but we'll see how long it actually lasts. As of episode 2 I'd definitely take back what I said after the premiere about Dongmin being an even wolfier version of Kim Gura. Dongmin's got a very real chance to ship this thing imo.

S02E06:

Spoiler:
Simply put, this is one of the best episodes of reality television ever produced. For this show to have such an insanely strategic, emotional, perfect episode this early into a series is unbelievable. I mean, it took Survivor at least 14 seasons for something like this to happen, and it's probably more like 20 when you look at the complexity of the entire situation.

Sangmin is incredible. There's really no other way to put it. He's one of the best reality TV characters in history, and he's absolutely tremendous at the game even though he's downright mediocre at the matches (i.e. he's not good at figuring out the angles of the individual games, but he's so good socially and at the actual "big picture game" that it doesn't even matter). All I want is for him to learn English and get randomly dropped into the Big Brother house one summer. He would destroy everyone. Ultimately, I doubt he'll end up winning this season of The Genius, and he needs to get Jinho out ASAP, but...my God, what an unbelievable two games he's played.
