CMAR, Hannibal is 2 seasons, and those are my three favorite shows of 2014 so far (in order, Fargo, Hannibal, TD). I think the one season versions of TD and Fargo (intended as miniseries vs. series) pretty far outstrip Rectify (for me, Fargo outstrips anything I've seen in recent and probably not so recent memory, but that's a taste thing), which I think was really finding its footing and intended as a very long arc if it would be given the chance. So, on that basis alone, that's why I'm waiting to put Rectify in my top 5 until the end of season 2. Rectify was probably in my top 5 or 6 last year, but I can't remember exactly where I ranked it. If it's better than season 1, it definitely deserves to be in the conversation with those shows.
I think first paragraph is accurate but irrelevant to ranking and the second paragraph goes down to preference. Rectify is on par with hannibal and TD, for me. And I really liked hannibal and TD.
Rectify has already started strong in s2 and quality would have to dip before I'd question whether this is an elite show.
I haven't seen Fargo yet but it's probably in my top 20 for movies, so I'm pretty happy to hear it has a great start.
