I recommend watching Cate Blanchett's speech from SAG/AFTRA Awards Show. Scroll to 3:18 to see the funniest part of the speech. It literally never gets old.

The same reason why you hated it is the reason I liked it so much. Their thought process behind decisions is the best.

So who's excited about the return of The Following?

Haven't watched it yet, but I am curious.

I enjoyed the first season and am pretty curious where they go with it. Really thought Purefoy was great.

The Following want as bad as people make out. It's easily top 50% of shows and was watchable enough.

I was hesitant to watch it cuz Lolnetworktv, but it was pretty good. I was hooked in almost immediately.

It was a top 5 elite troll comedy/drama. If you watch the show as if it is a parody of cops, FBI, and itself, it is amazing. There's no way this show is intended to be taken seriously.

The premiere last night was actually not that bad. It was hilariously horrendous last season, but off to a start that might move it up to just regular ol' bad territory.

Ep 201 was very different to any from the first season, it was actually pretty good. The end makes it look like they are going to slip back to the old ways soon, though.

Bad critiques are one thing for a show, but the ones for the first season were monumentally bad, almost ground breaking. And they had to listen, so I'm thinking they did a lot to fix what was the worst. The season should average a C probably, rather then F- from last time.

Top 50% of shows? There are a lot of shows out there. Top 50% is still nowhere near watchable.

The Following was hilariously awful in the first season. The promos seemed to hint that the villain didn't die at the end of s1 which would have been terrible so I didn't bother with s2 last night.

I could have sworn I've seen some good things said about Arrow. I'm watching the pilot on Netflix right now and it's so awful that I'm about to turn it off halfway thru. Does it get any better?

I really like the following, what is it that people find terrible/funny about it and why would anyone finish the first season of a show they think is terrible hoping that it moves up to regular territory in the future? do something else with your time

The first season was full of cornball winking at the audience type of stuff. The show was so patently unbelievable, it absolutely knew it, and played itself as if it knew that. The show is made by the guy who did Scream, so it's clearly an elite parody of unbelievable police procedurals, or at least it was. The beginning of the second season played it a little more straight, but trying to figure out Ryan's motives for what he's doing, or even what he's doing, seem like a good chance for comedy, as do the freaky twin killers.

The mistake you're making is that you think we weren't entertained by the show. We were, and that's why we keep watching. If a show doesn't, at the very least, entertain me, I drop it. Unlike a lot of people around here, I actually consider entertainment value to be an extremely important part of making a TV show watchable and fun. After all, most shows are stealing an hour of your life, if you're not enjoying it on some real level, you shouldn't be watching it. All of us enjoy The Following on some level, and it is above the line for shows we consider watchable. It actually clears the bar by a good margin, at this moment, but I can certainly see ways to quit it if it gets to a point that's too ridiculous to continue.

One reason I'm def not watching s2 is b/c
Spoiler:
Joe C didn't die. Several years ago I'd be okay with watching someone be chased for several seasons but not anymore. There are no stakes imo.

And to back up with a little more evidence what I was trying to say earlier, here are a couple of posts I made in the season 1 thread to show why I love the show so much.

Post 1: There were some elite lulz in the episode:

1. I guess the one guy's job was just to hang around after everyone else left.
2. Claire stuck a fork Joe, and I guess it turns out he wasn't done.
3. Ryan takes the crazy cult woman, throws her up against a wall, choking her, demanding that she tell him where Claire is or he will kill her. He then asks her what happened with Joe to make him want to kill Claire, and being satisfied with her answer, he decides that finding out where Claire is isn't important.

This is THE best comedy on TV.

Post 2: By far the two funniest things about the episode were 1) when Joe said that he had been stabbed with both a knife and a fork, and that he was pretty sure there would be no more fighting (proceeds to go down in, you guessed it...a fight) 2) "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach". Actually that whole scene of the put downs Ryan did were pretty A+, considering the plot of the book is the plot of the show, and that's pretty much how we feel about the show...lol. No doubt this show was intended to never be anything more than a comedy.

I don't understand how anyone can quit this show. It's too funny to stop watching.

I thought the premiere was ok. That **** with the corpse was creepy as hell. Really love that they killed Claire right away.

Not sure if it's already been discussed here or if it has a thread and I didn't find it but my wife wants to start watching Psych. I don't know much about it so I come to OOTV to see what people think of it that watch it.

Worth it?

I know the episode aired already, but don't really expect to be spoiled like that in this thread.

i think that should be the rule for shows that have their own thread. if it is in threads where people might come in that haven't seen a particular show but might want to later you probably want to be more careful (use spoiler tags). but that's just what i would prefer. no idea what the actual rule is

Sounds like I just found out my recording started late...lol. I had no clue.

Goodie, you have to be into hokey humor a little to get into Psych, but it's a great watch every week. Not knowing the characters, if you can find The Hangover parody they did, and not like that episode, there's no chance you will ever like the show.

Season 6 ep 2 "Last Night Gus".

Watch a few.. I wasn't sold at first, but it quickly became a favorite of mine because, as nunnehi said, it is so consistent in hitting its mark.
