Yea, I have used that for a long time.

A newer one that I like is Reelgood, I like that you can rate and/or review and it posts instant, not like IMDB.
Here is Shogun.

Another really good one for shows and movies is :
https://beta.releases.com/calendar/tv-series

It's better to get a log in and save different settings, and when looking at new shows by the week, don't forget to always hit show more button.

I enjoyed the stylistic artsy aspects myself. The intro sequence alone is notable, and of course his reveries of himself with her at the pool/resort.
The violence at times was a bit much. and I was not a fan of the little dog scene, but they were depicting horrible people, so kudos to them for not shying away.

My favorite sequence of all was early on with the newly released convict in the car. That was spectacular.

BB is on an entirely other tier for sure. It is one of the best shows I've ever watched. I hope you enjoy it too!
the opening sequence is pretty amazing.

dario is certainly a memorable character. even the stuff we didn't get to see on the screen, like when the mob bosses were describing his behavior at various locales around town. excellent casting in that case.

the little dog in the snow was a great part. tough little ****er.

Yea, I saw some reviews I didn't like when it first came out, I haven't tried it, and probably won't. lol

I'm surprised there isn't a thread yet for 3 Body Problem, premiers tomorrow on Netflix and has been all over my feeds the last couple days. I'm a huge fan of the books though so maybe I'm over-indexed.

I just checked, it's streaming for free at daserste.de (German public broadcaster) just have to set your VPN location to Germany. No english language option or subtitles though.

I read that they'll film season 5 later this year.

Came here to see if someone mentioned it. Didn't hear about it until today when I saw something about it being among the most expensive Netflix shows ever. Reviews on RT are pretty lukewarm.

Started watching The Gentlemen today while riding the bike. Shows seems to be perfect for that.

Have definitely seen some up and down reviews. I did read the Ringer one yesterday where the author was a big fan of the books and he was positive, that got me a little psyched.

seems like it might be mediocre: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHpMVGCUKPA

pretentious, formulaic characters, boring pace, etc sounds like not a winning combo. book fans might like it, but then again maybe not because of changes they made. netflix dropping it all at once might also be a bad sign

maybe not bad, but just another average show that passes the time

Typical of 90% of Netflix shows

Thank you for that info. I hope it will land on a streamer available here for subscription sooner or later.

Not going to read the reviews (I rarely do, anyway). I've been waiting for this, but my initial impression is that this will be tough to portray as a TV show.

Also, I'm 13 episodes into the version (produced in China) on Prime Video, which is OK, but weirdly starts in the middle of the first book and only shows the beginning of the story in flashback.

Too bad if true. The books are may favorite thing I've read in years and years, was hoping having complete source material would mean this could be peak GOT from start to finish.

Will certainly check out for myself this weekend regardless.

yeah thats what i've heard, seems pretty convoluted. still don't think i even understand the plot lol. tough for something like that to become a massive hit

thinking that fans will probably enjoy it, especially if the major criticism so far is that it's slow and boring. they're already in on the concept, so you don't need to sell them. the general audience being patient with it might be another thing though. maybe thats why they dropped it all at once? terrified ppl would lose interest and wander off

also just noticed that house of the dragon dropped another s2 trailer today, probably not an accidental **** you to d&d lol

I had never heard of 3 Body Problem before this show, not the books or anything and I have very little faith in D&D but the first episode was pretty good. It will make for a good casual watch. I wouldn't want to binge it but having it on while I eat is perfectly fine. I do hope it's a mini-series and not a years long investment.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news but afaik the current plan for it, providing s1 is enough of a hit to continue, is for 3bp to run 4 seasons. i guess the 3rd book would cover seasons 3 & 4. and then after there's a lot of other stuff in the extended canon that they want to make projects on. seems like due to popularity in china, the rights holders are hoping for this to be some new big cinematic universe ala star wars

anyway, yeah i have no faith in d&d, so i hope s1 is a relative flop but they persist with someone else who isn't a dolt. probably on a lower budget. doubt this thing needs to cost as much as house of the dragon. would be crazy if it's such a flop that they just scrap everything else, but with d&d, anything is possible lol

Thinking more about it, I guess it's unfair to **** on D&D when they have something to work from and aren't left on their own. Considering that their other post GoT projects were never made means that they went with something that they have a track record with. My concern is more based on whether they went at with the idea of redeeming themselves or just did something that they knew would work so they could actually have something else finally green lit. That said, them shitting the bed again and ruining something else would not surprise me in the least.

my understanding is that this project was assigned to them by netflix due to their past success in adapting fantasy/sci-fi books. they were handed 5-year contracts, which apparently end this year, to create original projects, and they produced basically nothing of their own. i think they kind of need 3bp to be a hit here. i however am actively praying for their downfall
(no, not really ... i just think that they really suck and are stupid *******s)

Interesting…. I didn’t know any details about the contract but that makes sense. I’m not praying for the same thing but I am rooting for that. Their bullshit is why a lot of great things didn’t get made or didn’t get a chance to finish. I’m infuriated by those in the industry who aren’t qualified to do what they do but get to do it, but more so when they’re given that chance and don’t care to do it well or give it everything they have. Just makes it harder on the rest of us trying to move up or get a foot in at all.

Haha, I did the same. The project/contract talk finally led me to figure it out. David Benioff and D. B. Weiss appear to be the villians in this story.

2 episodes in and I like it. If you take away some cosmetic changes (not a plot spoiler, but I'll specify below), it's tracking closer to the books than the Chinese version on Prime.

Spoiler:
1. The action in the present is primarily set in the UK, while in the books it's in China.
2. The nano-tech scientist is a Chinese man in the books, but a non-Chinese woman in the Netflix series.
