Excellent hour of tv. Especially good work by Julianna Margulies and Josh Charles.

I saw one tv writer on Twitter saying you could jump in with this episode but I'd start from the beginning. Along with Parenthood it's the best network drama post Lost. (in my opinion)

I guess you could jump in at some point but I always agree I'd start from the beginning. This season would be better if you seen stuff from the past.

I figured a few eps from each season, then maybe all of the last one or something like that. First 2 and last 2, then a middle 2 or something like that.

watch the first and last 3-4 eps of each season, read summaries for the rest

i've watched only random ep's of TGW but did watch last night - have to concur, that's about as good as it gets for network drama right now .... not a high bar but still

best part - when Alicia makes the 'talk talk talk' hand gesture at David Lee in court when they're bickering

Is anyone else watching Hostages? It's a pretty intense hour of television.

I am, and it's intense in a really ******ed way. It's The Following of this season. I think the only reason I keep watching is because it's hasn't crossed the so bad it's bad line yet. it's still so bad that it's okay, but still not very good at all.

I posted the above before I watched tonight's episode. It's now crossed that line.

Ya'll were right. The Good Wife is some seriously enjoyable ****. I went by the grades on TheAVClub.com as to which episodes to watch. 8 eps from S1, and I'm 5 into the 15 eps of S2. Equal amount in S3, but I think I'll go ahead and do the entirety of S4, then I'll be all caught up.

I didn't realize Dan Rydell was in this, or I'd have been watching awhile ago. Thanks for the rec. I've been looking for a new show for awhile.

Is there a show you would compare it to? People say a show is good or bad, but I don't know what kind of shows you prefer.

I'm not sure what to compare it to since I watch so few 22-24 episode a season dramas. I only recently started watching a couple, but those premiered this season. Others I've dropped from regular rotation.

I guess Person Of Interest is probably the closest with their execution. It's has a procedural element with the case-of-the-week stuff, but with a lot of serialized elements that make it worth keeping up with. Granted I'm only about a 4th into it, but I'm enjoying it a lot.

NBC ordered 13 episodes of new comedy "Tooken" written by Tina Fey and starring Ellie Kemper.

I ended up watching Dracula, and thought it was too much style over substance. I also thought it was dumb that they said Jack the Ripper was a vampire. I hate when shows take real life events and try to give them a "pass" in a TV show. Grimm did a similar thing with Hitler, which was really disturbing.

I thought it was "interesting" that Dracula decided to depart so far from the source material. Those who know the story at all know that the alliance (however tenuous) is...umm...bizarre. I'll watch at least one more to see if it gets better, but I thought it was pretty boring. Still, flipping the script is what probably will make it an interesting show, if it gets better.

They really never said Jack The Ripper was a Vampire, they had to mutilate the bodies so it didn't look like the victims were killed by a Vampire and JTR was created.

BTW, I really like that part on Grimm and you are looking way to deep into that scene.

So you think it's okay that they're saying some guy who was a monster, was a real monster, and that his nature is why that happened? No, doesn't work for me, it was a bad move, and I am nowhere near the only one who feels the same way.

And I think the implication was clear that they were saying the killer who became known as JTR was a vampire (no matter how much they made up the JTR side).

leave it to goose to be the one person who finds hostages to be an intense hour of television

really awful show, most notably 2 or 3 episodes ago was just some of the worst timeline tv terribleness ive ever seen

Goose is on a whole other TV watching plane from the rest of us, so it's not really a surprise.

Given no one knows who JTR was and why he went on a killing spree which stopped for reasons no one understands it is the perfect example of how you can create alternate history based around a real event/person. IMO, anyway.

I guess I kind of compare it to Boston Public/The Practice because of the "Case of the week" stuff, but its so much deeper than that. They do a better job building characters than any network show outside of maybe Parenthood.

Its really different than anything else I've watched. I mean I've always made fun of pretty much all CBS shows, but my wife implored me to join her in watching this and its probably my favorite show in TV currently (While GoT/The Americans/Mad Men are all on hiatus)

I would compare "the Good Wife" to the first few seasons of 'la law', where it was pretty serious. it later got goofy as hell, so not like that. But it's been a looong time since I saw "la law"

Couple shows that haven't been mentioned that I'm casually liking. "brew dogs" and "knife fight".
two Irish guys visiting cities, brewing local beers, and cracking wise. It hinges on the two hosts, just like "no reservations" hinged on Bourdain. Not as good, but good enough.

Knife fight is produced about 75% too over the top, but at least it shows interesting cooking. Mistakes and all. You can tell the cooking is organic. Here's 2 ingredients. Use whatever else is here.

It totally makes sense WHY they did it. I just think it's in poor taste, because there were actual victims of those crimes.

Nez, did you watch The Bridge?
