If anyone ever remembers the NBC skit about "Ted Lasso" an American college football coach who moves to the UK to become a UK football coach, it is a tv show now that came out today.

looks horrific

the real life story of bob bradley trying to manage swansea city would make a infinitely more entertaining movie

that was really great! you can tell how moved she was. and it shows that he must have been good to her. that's nice to see during these times when all these horrible sexual assaults and inappropriate behaviors are coming to light.

i heard an interview with her on fresh air. and i can't remember the specifics, but i remember being really impressed with her, and that she had a hard life. and that being so sexualized on married with children when she was so young messed her up. iirc she was 15 when she started that show. and every entrance the studio audience would cat call her.

hannah

cia trying to make teenage girls into super agents and one of them, hannah, is fighting back.

it's sooooooooooooo lolfake!!!! but also kinda high quality. very strange mix of absurd writing as far as plot and realism, but good writing in terms of character and story. and some really nice acting and directing and great action sequences. good music too.

the lead is especially great! im have a blast watching it. but you have to be ok with ridic fake stuff about the story.

He did seem a little homophobic didn't he? Sounds like she made the right choice not to invite him to her wedding.

Hanna was a great movie, the first season of the show was the exact same story stretched out over a bunch of episodes. I am curious to see if the second season is better.

im currently on episode 6 of 8 of the 2nd season, and first season was better. 2nd season is still good though.

the lead's acting got better in the 2nd season, and it was pretty good in the 1st season. so that's fun to see

HBO put the first episode of Lovecraft Country to Youtube for free (US only)

What did everybody think of the first episode? While I didn't (don't in general) like the gore-y horror (the Jackie Robinson part was cool though), the episode was really well done in my opinion. Every time they ventured out of "safe zones" there was this constant underlying feeling like a bomb was going to go off at any moment. This made the last 20 minutes of the episode extra intense.

Louis CK got "fired" after s2 and they brought on several new writers. S3/S4 aren't as consistent and there's a lot of off-the-wall episodes, but it's still great TV imo

felt like the show joined the recreational outrage party

Thanks for the heads up. That opening scene was pretty epic. The rest is slogging... I'm sure it will pick up though. I am interested in where this will go.

The Great 8.1 on imdb

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2235759/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

elle fanning stars as catherine the great. i've only watched the first episode but it was pretty damn good. it's like a period drama, but a silly one. it's def a comedy and drama. a little bit like the cate blanchet movie "elizabeth" meets "monty python's holy grail". but more elizabeth than holy grail. probably like 75/25

i heard about the show because taika wattiti tweeted that he loved it. he is a brilliant director(hunt for the wilderpeople, what we do in the shadows)

I agree with this and the show is definitely still great tv. Pamela Adlon is very talented, but it's just impossible for any show to not suffer from losing Louis CK, hence the inevitable decline post-S2. Being raised by a single mom, the show feels very real when it comes to the struggles of single moms who need to take care of everything in the total absence of the dad. I mean, yeah it's Hollywood and not everything that takes place is too realistic, but the emotions feel very real.

Gave it a shot after seeing the Takitktikti Wakitikiti seal of approval and enjoying it so far. Also, speaking of him, I just realised 'What we do in the Shadows' S2 is out, so that's straight up to the top of my watch list!

Started Teenage Bounty Hunters on a lark but its actually pretty great. Would recommend if you're into Buffy the Vampire Slayer-style quippy action comedies.
