I lived there from 2016-2019, I’m not from there but my fiancée is.

I imagine it was an absolutely amazing city at some point, and while the natural beauty of the Bay is still amazing, the prices and even worse, the growing demographic of young tech workers (one of the worst demographics I’ve been exposed to) makes it easily not worth it for me, I was happy to leave it behind.

Great and insightful listen about Oz and prestige TV in general, worth listening to no matter what your relationship to Oz is (I've watched a few seasons and quit): https://soundcloud.com/chapo-trap-ho...is-is-sus-8-oz (also available in podcast apps)

They talk about how Oz's influence came more from theater whereas most other "prestige TV" is influenced by novels. Oz would bang you over the head with the "meanings" of things, with literal monologues to the audience. This is generally seen as dumb whereas a show like Mad Men or Sopranos is seen as more intelligent because you have to figure out for yourself that a duck walking away means Tony feels he has lost his family or whatever (ok that specific example is explained to the audience, but you get the point). This podcast attacks those ideas.

The new show "Quiz" on AMC tonight is good. It's about the UK invention of the game show "Who wants to be a Millionaire" before it hit US, and the cheating that happened. True story. Only 3 weekly episodes. Tom from Succession in it.

Came across an article on BBC.com entitled The Best TV Shows That You've Never Heard Of. I was looking for something light or funny to watch because I had spent the first half of the weekend re-watching Chernobyl on HBO with my wife as she had never seen it. I decided to try out a romantic comedy called Lovesick ostensibly about a guy who finds out he has Chlamydia and has to search out all of his old sexual partners and inform them. But that's not really the main emphasis of each episode.

I have to admit that the main reason that I decided to give Lovesick a try was that I got a chuckle out of its original series name: Scrotal Recall. I decided that that alone was worth tuning into an episode or two. As it turned out, I watched the first two entire seasons yesterday, albeit that only amounts to a grand total of fourteen 20-30 minute episodes. It's nothing deep or meaningful in any way, but I found it enjoyable. Here's a link to the BBC article, as well a trailer for the tv series when it was first broadcast under its original title.

I watched this a month ago or so. Worth a watch for sure. Didn't know the story. Tom is so lol.

Anyone have any reviews of NOS4A2 on AMC from last year? I stopped watching after the 1st few episodes, but Season 2 starts next week. Just wondered.

Filthy Rich is pretty disturbing, for all the reasons.

Couldn't get back to sleep early this AM, and the following thought occurred to me.

What non-news/documentary shows will have covid references upon their return, and how will they handle that story?

I've mostly gotten away from TV except a few shows (Better Call Saul & Killing Eve, mostly). BCS not comtemporary, so nothing there. Eve, maybe, though I can't see what the story would be.

It was okay. I don't remember the quality changing much throughout, though it's been a while so maybe I just don't entirely remember.

As far as Joe Hill adaptations go, I did like Locke & Key a bit more.

Into the Night was great. Only 6 eps. Belgian show, in French with subtitles. Easy to watch, it's gripping. ~38 min eps or so.

Spoiler:
characters were generally stupid, but maybe that's how you'd act in an end of the world situation. would've preferred if they were more united rather than made up drama. clearly it's going into s2. wonder what the plan for that is

It's the conceit and the concept. I like it. But I don't normally like traditional musicals where people randomly break out into song unless they're actually singing in the story of the movie, like in the movies Fame and Once. But I like this. <shrug>
I started watching this show because of your first couple of posts about it and I agree with you, the bolded part is the difference maker and what helps to make it so watchable.

I just finished episode 8 and I gotta say that it was probably my least favorite episode. And the reason for that goes back to the bolded part in the previous post. I can go with the conceit that only she sees the singing and dancing, but when the script gets flipped as it were, it leads to ridiculous and almost slapstick hijinks. I hope that episodes 9-12 get back to what made 1-7 work so well.

finished zoey's playlist

i ****ing loved the twist in ep 8!!! sooo good! overall i liked the show. but i don't think 2p2 is the right demographic for it, for the most part.

i thought the last two episodes of the show were lame. i didn't even pay full attention.

I'm not sure I couldn't fit the number of TV songs that I enjoy on one hand. Nightman, Monorail, maybe the midnight train to georgia on 30 Rock. Drawing a blank for anything else.

Wow, did they ever. Especially the final two episodes. It's 3:00am and I just finished watching them. Too emotional at the moment to even attempt to get any sleep.

Same here. That last scene/song was simply phenomenal and so apropos for not only that particular plot line, but for the entire series as a whole. Definitely Emmy worthy.

I missed season 2 of Ramy dropping on Hulu last week. I'm a few episodes in. It's still great.

Yeah, I saw your comments from Thursday about the final 2 episodes just a few posts up. As well as our opposing views with regard to episode eight. Needless to say, I disagree completely with your take on all three episodes.

My fiancée has never seen GOT so I’m rewatching all of them with her. So fun to see a first timer watch it.

I’ve loved fantasy since I was a kid so I am absolutely biased, but it’s my best show ever by miles and miles. The sheer scale of the show is so beyond anything else on TV, even rewatching I find myself giddy for the big scenes and panning shots like I did as a kid during a select few theater experiences
