I was so excited for the new twilight zone and after first 3 episodes I'm massively disappointed.

That sucks, what's wrong with it?

The original with Rod Serling is fantastic. I think filming in black and white added to the creepiness

Twilight Zone reboot feels 20 years too late.

We're twist-ending fatigued, and the social commentary, if any, is weak compared to Black Mirror.

in season 1 he tells naomi watts that he's been roaming the countryside for 50 years so now he's early to mid 50s.

The Marvelous Mrs Maisel

Wow, that was a fun pilot. Gf also loved it. Excited for more! Always such a good feeling to discover a new good show.

Deadwood

3 episodes in.. its good, but hasn't "clicked" just yet. For some reason i never really liked the wild west setting( although The Assassination of Jesse James is one of my favorite movies) Whatever.. im atleast finishing the first season!

Watched the first ep last night. Was gripped from the first moment. Had to kind of look away several times because it was making me so nervous/uncomfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Have marathoned Travelers in the last month.

Solid show with three seasons (now finished).

I don't usually watch a lot of sci-fi, but this one held my interested.

Well acted (for a sci-fi) with a story line that keeps things moving at a decent pace. I was worried that the show would run out of ideas, but it kept it going quite well without too many story lines being drawn out.

Solid 7/10

Another confirmation, Chernobyl is top notch.

It doesn't condescend to the viewer at all about the science of nuclear reactors or the political structure of 1980s USSR but it still deftly shows enough that the viewer understands everything purely through context.

i only watched half of chernobyl but it's probably enough to confirm that it's a great show that i was not impressed. seemed very formulaic disaster movie to me. the manager of the plant was stereotypically idiotic and obstructive.

very slightly spoilery about the behavior of the people around the nuclear power plant...

Spoiler:
so the fireman show up to the explosion/fire at the NUCLEAR POWER PLANT and start picking **** up and handling it for fun???? come on! and this is after they talk about a scary metal smell in the air.

and the neighbors taking their baby to go get a better look at the exploding burning nuclear power plant?!?!?!?!

*sigh* yeah, i guess that makes sense thinking about it more. but that wasn't the only thing i didn't like about the show.

there was an absolutely unbelievable nuclear disaster in brazil. they put a bunch of nuclear waste in barrels and took it to the dump and left it there. poor brazilians who scavenge at the dump opened up the barrels and saw the cool glowing stuff and rubbed it all over their bodies and they gave it to family and friends as gifts because it was so cool

Yeah, IDK what the rules are on spoiling real life events, but all the stuff with the scanners that maxed at 3.6 getting passed along as the readings being only 3.6 and the main guy not believing there was a reactor explosion is what actually happened.

From Wikipedia:
Spoiler:

Because of the inaccurate low readings, the reactor crew chief Alexander Akimov assumed that the reactor was intact. The evidence of pieces of graphite and reactor fuel lying around the building was ignored, and the readings of another dosimeter brought in by 04:30 were dismissed under the assumption that the new dosimeter must have been defective.[41]:42–50 Akimov stayed with his crew in the reactor building until morning, sending members of his crew to try to pump water into the reactor. None of them wore any protective gear. Most, including Akimov, died from radiation exposure within three weeks.[54]:247–48

The stereotype of the authority figure not believing how bad a disaster is and not reacting appropriately is a cliche but it's based on how often people in real life disasters make terrible mistakes.

And it wasn't a metal smell in the air, it was tasting metal because the radiation was cooking their taste buds inside their mouths.
