I just finished all the "The First" episodes. I thought episode 1 and 8 were great with a lot of nothing in the middle. That series seriously needed a better story. So slow. So little ever happens.

It however was loaded with artsy shots and emotional scenes. To a fault.

This is why it's been recommended in thread to only watch eps 1 and 8. I watched 1, 15 minutes of 2, then 8. Glad I followed itt advice.

I got as far as 6 and stopped because It began to annoy me.

I almost didn't get past e1 because of the use of the Challenger footage for the initial disaster.

Last two episodes of The Good Place have been much better.

Superstore is still elite especially the most recent episode.

Daredevil season 3-first 2 episodes. Forgot how good this show is, and no need to have watched the defenders it seems, nice.

I must admit The Wire lost me few episodes into season 5.

Ya season 5 of The Wire is trash. It's got some good parts tho. The last time I watched it I just fast forwarded thru all the newspaper garbage cuz it's just so lame.

Well yeah. The Wire S5 doesn't have any hallway fight scenes.

AMC has ordered a second season of "The Terror" with a decidedly new look. Alexander Woo ("True Blood") enters as showrunner, and the setting moves from the Arctic to Southern California and WWII internment camps. The terror itself shifts from a violent polar bear to an "uncanny scepter" that sets sights on a Japanese-American community.

Anyone else watching The Bodyguard, starring Richard Madden? On Netflix.

First episode is quite good but dark as hell.

Somebody with a law degree from Columbia leaving NYC for Baltimore would be the weirdest move since Michael Jordan decided to play minor league baseball.

Way too unrealistic even for a Marvel tv show.

Have you been to Hell’s Kitchen? That area is a prime example of gentrification. Might have been a ghetto 30+ years ago but today median rent for a 1BR apartment is >$3k and a significant part of the population are young-ish business professionals working in Lower Manhattan.

In 2017, 8.5mil NYC had a lower total number of homicides than 600k Baltimore. Per capita, Baltimore has 16x as many murders as NYC.

Baltimore now is way different than the Baltimore from the Wire. It's actually pretty sweet. John Hopkins students/workers took over the parts that I've been to.

If I wanted to take a chick to a nice place to eat that'd be a consideration, great restaurant and bar scene.

Baltimore as a city and especially the parts The Wire was set in, is arguably way worse than 15 years ago. Population keeps dramatically declining, because the combination of ridiculously high property taxes and high crime doesn’t really appeal to most people. The city lost 25% of its population over the last 30 years and still posted the highest number of murders ever last year.

I remember when I first watched The Wire I got curious if the school system in Baltimore is really that bad and found out that there are schools where not a single student is proficient in math.

Everyone who works in Baltimore and can afford to leave moves to one of the surrounding jurisdictions that also have significantly lower income taxes.

To bring it back to recent TV shows, looks like The Connors second weekend drop was in line with the drop the Roseanne rival had, 25-27%. I thought it would be higher, considering they went against game 1 of the World Series. I didn’t watch the episode but apparently it was quite good?

Still, there is a lot of money moving in. The place is pretty dope for a night out on the town. One of my fave things about it is that you can go to this bar or this restaurant and it's been around for 200 or more years.

Funny thing is the Wire had me shook, meanwhile if you're in the right areas it's a super friendly town.
