I DVR'd it, despite low expectations (but it has to at least better than Tyrant). Read some pretty bad reviews, but I don't always agree with critics.

It's premise is a bit bogus since crack actually started on the east coast, but that shouldn't make it a bad show. Just a technicality.

On days when programmers know their viewership will drop, like on holiday weekends or during sporting events, they “accidentally” misspell their show’s name on the nightly Nielsen lineup, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Over the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, for example, NBC aired NBC Nitely News instead of its usual NBC Nightly News so the holiday drop in viewership didn’t affect its ratings standing. Nielsen’s automated system counted that misspelled show as an entirely different program. By doing this, NBC managed to actually gain ratings against its main competitor: ABC World News Tonight.

No love for El Chapo series on Netflix? I'm 5 episodes in and it's on par with Narcos with potential to be even better.

Took me about 5 hours to watch the first 3 episodes because it's in Spanish and I wasn't paying close attention but now I'm hooked.

Yea, its not a show you can multi task and watch. You have to be constantly reading sub titles. lol

I want Phelps to get a head start with a big piece of bloody meat tied to his waist and then see if he can keep the lead.

Binged the first four eps of El Chapo. It seems very bingeable and a pretty good show. The first comparison that comes to mind is Narcos, obviously -- it seems quite on par otherwise but lacks the incredible charisma of Wagner Moura who played Escobar is Narcos.

Based on the first four eps I'd definitely recommend tho if you're at all interested in the subject matter, and let's face it, it's pretty damn interesting.

Agreed. Frankie's storyline by far the best. That opening scene looked like it was lifted directly from Boyz n the Hood (yes I know - John Singleton). Wrestler story is slow but who knows where it goes. CIA guy story is straight cliche.

rewatching veronica mars... what a great show!!!

i read in the trivia section on imdb that it was the lowest rated show ever to be renewed. thank god it was renewed!

and man, it had some great actors on there. of course it was kristen bell's first show. and enrico calontoni did great work on that show too. but check some of these other actors who were cast on it before they were famous...

paul rudd
jessica chastain
aaron paul
krysten ritter
amanda seyfried
diana agron
leighton meester
jane lynch

and joss whedon loved the show so much that he guest starred in an episode

Finished El Chapo s1

It was captivating very much in the way of Narcos, time flew by watching it and you wanted to binge the whole thing. However I don't think the writing was too great, all the characters were paper-thin and I don't feel like I learned anything about Guzman or what drives these people. Still a pretty decent watch for Narcos withdrawal symptoms or if you're into the subject matter at all.

Tour de Pharmacy on HBO is funny as ****. It's only 45 minutes and has lots of big stars.
It makes fun of Professional cycling.

1st 15 minutes or so is the best, had me in tears multiple times.

You can watch all 4 episodes right now on HBO Go. No waiting.
If you have HBO thru cable company then Go is part of it.

Just watched the first one and wasn't overly impressed. The whole meet with Escobar, then the OTT run against the clock just didn't sit right with me. I'd prefered to have had more of an intro into how he got into the cartel world/building these tunnels/etc, rather than a Fast and Furious knockoff.

His story should be fascinating though, so I'll probably give another couple of episodes a go soon. My fear is that, as it's still very recent, not much good information will have come out about him yet.
