I found the notion of a comedy series having a great and very unexpected season finale so weird I had to hop back on
The Good Place wagon. Watched the first three eps when it first aired and have now gone through the next three. Thought it was kinda decent but not especially great back then and haven't changed my mind since. The progressing main story arc does keep some suspense going and Ted Danson continues to rule. The chick playing Tahani is super hot and Kristen Bell is always nice as well. The subtle race mixing propaganda in this universe is kinda meh but whatever. But yeah, likely would've never revisited this show if it wasn't for this supposedly brilliant finale. Hopefully I don't build it up to something it can't live up to.
I haven't delved into too many comedy series but in
Fresh Off The Boat I seem to have found a good one. The cast is really great and the writing has its peaks here and there while on the whole it's pretty formulaic and outdated. Perhaps that's why I kinda feel the need to classify it as a guilty pleasure type of show.
Tried to start
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency but only got thru the first maybe 20 minutes or so. Pretty terrible imo. I'm guessing it's more about the genre/storyline than the execution but there just wasn't much I liked so I guess I'm not gonna give it another try.
Watched the first episode of
Sneaky Pete. Kind of a letdown but will prolly have to see one or two more episodes to make up my mind. I like Giovanni Ribisi but certainly not gonna watch the show just because of him. Too little of Cranston in the first ep.
