as is Girls fwiw
only 14 eps of Game of Thrones left
not sure how much longer Veep will run

is Vice Principals any good?
Divorce seems mediocre based on the fact i've never seen it praised anywhere
Ballers is meh, but might be good enough for what it is
High Maintenence & Insecure might be alright ... is anyone watching?

so they seem to have a hit in Westworld, then there's John Oliver, Silicon Valley, and ... Curb is returning!

problem?
People didn't like The Brink? If you didn't expect an Emmy level show I think it delivered. Light fun and Jack Black was toned down to very tolerable.

Vinyl was good, I guess the ratings just weren't there.

Ballers isn't spectacular but I enjoy the subject matter.

Anxiously waiting for Silicon Valley and Curb to return.

i'm counting it as a miss because i'm guessing it was not cheap to make and had sub-Treme level ratings over its 1 season

gone, going, limbo

i guess it'd make a lot of sense to bring back True Detective at some point
critics be damned, people were still watching

the Comeback is, uh ... coming back? lol
Divorce seems like a suspect renew, oldz like it tho!
and i don't know what Animals is, but it must be cheap

could see Westworld building on their rating, but still unless they had a GoT spinoff coming for 2019, or something else excellent in development, they could be without an anchor show soon

I had much higher expectations for Ballers. Like Entourage level expectations. It has not delivered. Feels like forced watching.

"Entourage level expectations" is a great back-handed compliment.

First couple seasons of Entourage were awesome
General TV Discussion and Thread for Shows Without A Thread Thread Quote

yeah Entourage was at least a little entertaining and fun, Ballers isn't really anything
could be trouble if ratings drop another 30% for S3

and i shudder to think what the SV/Veep ratings would look like without the GoT lead-in

unrelated: think i might be in on The Young Pope

early entourage was excellent, but ballers is better than late season entourage (or at least much more consistently average).

72off,

not sure this is confirmed as such: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perry_...s)#HBO_revival

note: not necessarily because i think TYP is good, but it held my attention, interested to see where it goes

but man was i giddy during that opening dream sequence, after seeing all the memes and reviews

for a minute there thought we might be in something real special

That's a good point, I didn't read any reviews or know about any memes till after I tried watching it. Maybe I'll give it another shot, I'm kind of obsessed with Young Pope memes at this point.

I'm watching the West Wing. The president's assistant barely having a high school education is ridiculous, but sooooo progressive because he is black.

I started watching The West Wing for the first time about a month ago. It's odd one, that I really enjoy it, but just never massively feel the urge to watch it, even though I normally prefer to marathon through shows I like.

you don't need a college degree to carry somebody's briefcase.

The role was based specifically on Clinton's body man, and GW's body man was a college dropout who also saw the role and character as similar to himself.

Obama's Duke/Wharton educated adult bodyman is an anomaly, not the norm.

Yeah I rewatched Young Pope episode 1 and watched episode 2. Verdict: pretty bad. Am I going to keep watching? YOU BET!

But why the heck were all those olds speaking spanish? If I wanted to spend an hour reading I'd pick up an US Weekly! Just speak English *******s!

Reminds me of the nonsense with all those guys in Game of Thrones in Easteros. Speaking that made up Dothracki language? Like, dudes. Why are you having your actors speak in literally a made up language and forcing your audience to read subtitles? Just have them speak ****ing English!

I guess when you hire a professional language creator to build a completely new language for you, you want to get the most out of it...
