kinda excited about Preacher coming out soon on AMC

Maybe I'm too old now, but I've basically given up on TV and film adaptations of books and comics. All of these were bad: Walking Dead, GoT, Ender's Game, Daredevil (tv and films), Golden Compass, every comic book movie...

I hope I'm wrong about Preacher.

Agree with this assessment, but I liked it very much. Funny and charming in that distinctly British way. Female lead is A+ and the male doesn't **** it up. Do recommend. And with 6 30 minute episodes, not a commitment.

I'm really enjoying this show as well (despite having no family either). The female lead is really good imo.

Spoiler:
Whats with the jump into future from S1 to S2? I was so confused, I went back to see if I had missed a season somewhere. It was odd to me to jump from about to give birth to the future where that kid is several years old with no explanation as to how we got there, still great though I enjoy the cast

Been on a binge of shows with split casts of Brits + Americans and they've all been really good imo (Episodes, Cuckoo, Hello Ladies, Extras)

Anybody watch Outsiders on WGN? It's about a clan of hillbillies who live on a mountain and the struggle between them and the townsfolk who want to mine the mountain. I caught an episode that my friend was watching and got hooked. Just one season so far and I thought it kinda lost some steam at the end but overall was pretty good. It's got David Morse and Opie from Sons of Anarchy in it along with a bunch of actors I didn't recognize. I thought almost everyone on the show did an excellent job. Would definitely recommend it.

Another season of Alone going. Seems that the quality of the survalists is slightly lower this season so far, but they at least have the experience of last season to build on so I wouldn't be surprised if they last very long this season.

I think I'll give Outsiders a go. I loved Justified, and one of their season's storylines sounds pretty much exactly like that.

You maybe just need to give up on opinions. Walking Dead got good, Game of Thrones is way better than the books now and there are at least five awesome movies just in the MCU plus some awesome stuff outside it like the Nolan trilogy, Deadpool and Watchmen.

I liked Outsiders. Sheriff oxycontin was the weakest character IMO, which is disappointing because he got the most screen time. Also:

Spoiler:
It's pretty clear from the outset that the mountain/clan has mystical or supernatural powers. Yet they went a whole season without moving that forward (or why the sheriff's son sleepwalks - which is no doubt related). I just hope they don't go all Lost on us and not explain anything.

If you like the spy genre, I just caught up on these two:

The Romeo Section: Modern day drama about the international intelligence community based in Vancouver. S1 revolves around the heroin trade from China to North America. IMO two thumbs up, it's well written and moves along. But it's more about clandestine meetings & surveillance than gun battles.

X Company: A WWII spy company formed in Canada that helps recruit & cultivate the resistance in France. This is more of a "mission of the week" show where you will find gunfire & explosions regularly. (One aspect I like is that the Nazis actually speak German and the production value is good.) IMO just watchable but apparently this is Canada's highest rated drama. S2 just finished.

Thanks, just watched all of season 1.

Amazed how none of them really seemed to care about the cash, pure survivalists trying to survive. Most of them had terrible personal situations with families/kids etc. Making it very hard for themselves from the off. Seemed a little unfair how some had bears on day 1 and most others seemingly never saw a bear! Lucas was awesome, my fave by far.

Stoked to watch s2.

Also need to watch Line of Duty.

If you like this kinds of shows (which I also do) I would deffo NOT stop watching, most of the seasons are IMO solid.

Actually season 3 is deffo one of the best seasons IMO, good story and lots of great acting.

Season 4 is very meh if I remember correctly, I think I stopped that season the first episode.

Season 5 is not one of the best but still very enjoyable, deffo if you like these kind of shows.

Season 6 is IMO pretty good, but its very very different from the other seasons because its played out a loooooong time ago.

If you are on the fence give season 3 a chance atleast and if you like it give season 5 a chance and than maybe watch the first episode of season 6 to see if its your style IMO.

EDIT: Saw now that you WILL watch season 3, good. So I would advice to give season 5 a couple of episodes and also season 6 atleast 1 episode to see if its something for you.

Half way through S3 at the moment. I'm enjoying it, but not as much as 1 or 2.

My main gripes are they seem to be padding out the episodes with these over stylised shots of club or street scenes (imagine the opening credits, but with close ups of bottles, dancers, or drug deals). I'm glad I don't have epilepsy.

Also, I know one of the main characters is a hooker (and I'm totally in love with her), but they've massively ramped up the sex and nudity. I've not problem with either, but it just feels gratuitous and completely unnecessary, and detracts from an interesting plot. If I wanted to watch very softcore porn, I wouldn't be watching a real-life crime drama...

^^ Yeh I agree about the hooker (Kim I think?) storyline. It gets way to much airtime IMO, could have done something more interesting than just, yeh like you say very very softcore porn :P

What I enjoyed most in that season is mostly the businesses (drug dealers), the corrupt cops and another guy and his team which I dont remember if they had given more airtime mid season already or later so wont spoil that if it havent been introduced already.
