Have any of you seen this show on TLC "My Strange Addiction"

I can't explain how insane some of these things are, so here are some examples:

Adele can't resist eating couch cushions

Bianca eats pottery and cigarette ashes:

Lori sleeps with her blowdryer:

plenty more...

I remember seeing the promos for the upcoming season and being shocked and amused. Never got around to watching it.

I gave Haven a try and i gotta say i really liked it. It manages to be serious without being overly dramatic and at the same time. A show like this always struggles with the balance of being to camp and goofy (Eureka was esp bad for that) or just overly serious and isnt engaging at all.

The meta story of who Officer Parker is is very well done. It slowly revealed a series of details and never felt rushed or underplanned. And the characters are good and have been developed at a good pace. They have kept the troubles and the Colorado Kid story enough in the foreground to keep it relevant but not hammered home the point both are linked heavily into the current story. Oh and i love they havent felt any need to handhold the audience including rushing how they have a bunch of kids with paranormal abilities in some town in Maine that has been going back centuries.

Its no Lost or whatever, but its a hell of a lot better than most of the SyFy ****e ive seen.

I was just planning to check back in on Jon Benjamin Has a Van. It hadn't really kept up the laughs enough for me to watch the season regularly, but I figured what the hell, might as well see if it's improved.

Just to be clear I was making a lame joke about this weeks theme, the curse of the terrible episode. They really pounded it into the ground but it was funny.

As far as the overall quality I'd say the second half of this season has been a big improvement over the first 3 or 4 eps.

Is this anything like Toddlers and Tiaras? I haven't watched either but I see clips of T&T on The Soup and it is really horrifying.

Homeland is debuting October 2nd after Dexter. Critical reaction to the pilot has been positive.

I'm still liking Alphas too. I'm liking the Gary character alot in the last few episodes.

Its not great of course but yeah, I've seen way worse shows than alphas and its settling in to its own groove.

Yeah i think the Gary character is actually really good. Funny, well written and well acted. I think the woman with mind control powers is the obvious weak link.

The thing which i think theyve got right though is how these people actually function well as a team and have specific roles which theyre useful for without anyone being clearly overpowered. I think where Heroes went wrong, amongst other things, is they made people way too overpowered.

I need a bit of help...I would really like to follow a good TV series. I'm thinking of watching Breaking Bad....but I need a recommendation. Watched all seasons of the Wire and loved it. I watched Game Of Thrones and loved it. Then I tried watching Rome and John Adams and kind of got bored. These were well done, and maybe I just needed to be patient, but in the end I just turned it off. Then I watched most of the first season of Deadwood. For a while I enjoyed it, but I gave up towards the end. I watched both seasons of Party Down and that was awesome. Now I'm stuck watching past seasons of curb and am at a loss. I know true blood and shows like that are popular, but I'm not too into vampires and ghosts, but I really don't know what the show is about. Any suggestions?

Sopranos
Lost
24
Battlestar Galactica
Jonathon Creek

in a different vein:
Archer (should be done by the time the 3rd season gets underway)
Better off Ted
Spartacus Blood and Sand (and the prequel series Gods of the Arena)
Community
Nikita (def not for everyone, but those of us who liked it loved it)

then for some short seasons you will rush through:
Torchwood Children of Earth
Sherlock (2010 BBC series)

I'm considering watching Torchwood. I've never watched any of it at all. Children of Earth appears to be season 3 of Torchwood? You don't feel that one should watch the first two seasons before watching season 3? And what of season 4 airing now, Torchwood Miracle Day?

I skipped season 1 and 2 - word is they're kinda meh and I don't really need to watch two seasons of meh.

Watched season 3 and it's awesome. Might have been a little better with more backstory but I didn't really feel like I was missing all that much. Seriously, if the whole show was up to Season 3's standards we'd be talking about it squarely in the second tier of top shows (Justified, Dexter, Lost).

Season 4 has been OK so far. Drop off from 3 but still decent.

Consider this your official recommendation, then.

Are you looking for currently-airing stuff or recently-aired stuff you haven't seen? Comedy or drama? What else do you like?

Thanks for the recommendations...I'm going to watch Community, Nikita, Better off Ted, and Archer pilots.

I like gritty underworld type dramas, so I'll try out Sopranos. I like comedies too, like Party Down or Curb.

Not really into sci-fi, fantasy, or vampire type stuff, though Game of Thrones was really good. Murder mysteries are good too.

fyi: Community pilot is one of it's worst episodes. It takes a few episodes to get going but you'll be rewarded if you stay with it.

If you like those kinds of dramas, definitely watch Breaking Bad.

Community, Better Off Ted, Archer also great. (I think BoT takes a while to get going, too, but if the racist-motion-sensor episode doesn't win you over, it might not be your kind of show.)

Try out Parks and Rec and It's Always Sunny if you haven't yet.
