also watched both. I'll stay with them but i'm not sure if i'd recommend them to my friends that arent already syfy junkies. The girl in Killjoys is unbelievable hot imo. and im curious about the idea in Dark Matter.

I actually liked it better than I liked the first episode of Ballers. Good cast that should be able to make it work. We'll see.

Haven't seen Killjoys yet, but I watched the first two eps of Dark Matter.

Not promising.

I didn't watch Ballers. All the promos made it look like an extended party scene from Any Given Sunday.

Ballers has been described as Entourage meets the NFL. For me, comedy gets a long leash since I feel you have to get to know the characters for a while for it to sink in.

Exactly, I love The Rock and I love the NFL so Ballers is going to have to be like aggressively bad for a long time before I stop watching. The first episode was totally fine for me.

I caught up on 3AM, airing on Showtime. I cannot tell if this is scripted in a documentary style or actually being presented as reality programming. I've never heard of Kirill, Fat Jew or Va$htel before, so these could be made up characters AFAIK.

It's a fun but rather mindless 30 minutes as the characters don't seem to be on any real growth trajectory.

Anyone else see The Brink? It's on after Ballers on HBO. Funny political satire with Jack Black and Tim Robbins. I enjoyed it.

It's on my list to watch. Glad to hear it's enjoyable. Ballers sure wasn't

I turned off Ballers after the first ten minutes. Looks like that old HBO show First and Ten mixed with the stupider parts of Entourage. And that's really stupid.

Id like to know how they managed to cast all those people in Alone. Looks like a freak show to me. And from what I've seen in ep1 they are... how should I put it... not smart at all.

I watched the first 2 episodes of Ascension on Netflix, called it way early in episode 1. It has a B-movie style charm about it, but once the secret was gone I lost interest and quit. Would have been so much better if they'd just played it straight. Fancy Play Syndrome ftl.

i was watching the brink and i hated it. im glad dom said he liked it becuase i went back and gave it another chance and i liked it quite a bit.

the first watch i turned it off when the hooker said the line about her escaping her country in a shipping container. i thought it was super lame. and at first i thought tim robbins character was lame, but i ended up liking him.

i like the fighter pilots too

For me on first episodes I thought Ballers>The Brink but neither were that good. Ballers showed more promise, and is led by The Rock, who I think makes just about every role he does better. I'll probably continue to watch both, but I see myself giving up on Brink before Ballers.

HBO does dramas about 1000 times better than comedies. I couldn't stand Brink, and I'll pass on Ballers.

I think the one interesting potential thing about The Brink is that Tim Robbins' character acts like he's borderline incompetent, but it's clear he's extremely competent when it matters. The Pakistani family bagging on Jack Black's character was excellent, and their interactions probably make the show worth watching. I hope that wasn't the last time we see the whole family.

HBO quality is down across the board. But they have had some great comedies. I like Veep a lot and Curb is classic and back when I absolutely loved Larry Sanders and Dream On. Really enjoyed Eastbound & Down too. Haven't seen these new ones yet though.

Watch the last part of it. They actually have an interesting twist at the end that I am hoping leads into a tv series in the future.

Thought Robbins nailed it, and I loved the Pakastani family.

Highly recommend Brit comedy "Catastrophe". 6 episodes. American on a business trip to London has a one night stand. Hijinks ensue. Now at Amazon or netflix (forget which).

"Clipped" got one of the quickest axes in my history. Maybe 5 minutes.

Veep and Silicon Valley are easily the two best shows on HBO right now. None of the dramas on HBO are even close to elite.
