Thats how bad it was. It could've easily been (and was probably pitched there) an MTV show.

Oh, my mistake. It was Happyland that was MTV.

That rating is based on the people watching/voting.

Thanks guys, seems like it's not a slam dunk "have to watch right now" type of show so I'll try to finish some others first.

It could be though. I really like it, though I have a couple of issues that most don't have. It doesn't take away from the quality though, which is fairly high. Plus, it's only 10 eps, and that's easy.

Leftovers might be my favorite new show this year but you need to buy in the show or you will hate it. Super depressing but really fascinating.

Yes +1 for The Leftovers. Just don't expect to "get it" immediately (or at ep10) but it is good tv.

Is anyone planning on watching Stalker? First episode is out online so presumably aired last night. Only heard of it because it stars Maggie Q and I watched (enjoyed, lol) Nikita.

I said it in another thread, but Stalker is just a bad show to exist in the world. It should never have been made. Same with The Following. Just awful subject matter handled awfully.

I didn't give it a ton of thought but I'd say Fargo, Leftovers, True Detective.

i've never seen happy valley, but honourable woman is elite. the good thing about honourable woman is you should be impressed right from the first scene. if you're not then you can just watch something else, or give up on life because you have on soul.

Ok so my wife and I have a list of shows we need to watch. Cannot decide which one to commit to first.

Six feet under
Sons of Anarchy
Shameless
Trailer Park Boys

We have never watched The Wire, The Sopranos or The Shield but we're not into crime type dramas a lot. For example we hated 24, CSI, law and order, etc..

To give u an idea my top 5 shows (in no particular order) are

Breaking Bad
GoT
Always Sunny
Curb
AD

Also wanna mention that I looooooooooved Lost Season 1-2. No show got me that hooked and let me down that bad

I'd say try Shameless its really good and continues to get better and better.
You will most likely enjoy Six Feet Under.

I have never seen Trailer Park Boys so can't say much about it.

Based on the shows you avoided + shows you don't like Sons of Anarchy doesn't sound like a fit.

The Wire isn't a typical crime drama the way that BB isn't a typical crime drama. Sure, some of the characters are cops, and some of the characters are committing crimes. But that's all the commonalities The Wire and BB have with the shows you listed.

The Wire and The Sopranos are NOT crime-type dramas. I guess The Shield is more a "cop show" than these others so I'd not suggest that to you. Seems from your list you lean towards comedy as opposed to drama.

I read a review of "The Wire" somewhere that used the term "Shakespearean" to describe it. I commented that to say that was to overrate Shakespeare.

And to lump 24 in with standard Procedurals like CSI and L&O is silly. 24 is just so over the top that the term over the top doesn't come close to describing the absolute insane absurdity of the show (but I love it none the less).

I'd also say if you don't like "over the top", avoid Banshee as well. But Breaking Bad is over the top, too, and you liked that.

Yeah, you're conflating several different genres there.

24 is an action movie.

L&O is a police procedural.

CSI is a science fiction police procedural.

The Shield is a police procedural on meth that sometimes aspires to belonging in the next group.

The Sopranos is a crime drama character study and tragedy. It's the closest of these shows to Breaking Bad.

The Wire is a sprawling meditation on the decay of urban society and infrastructure in North America with particular focus on urban blight and the fallout of the war on drugs.
