I'm not sure if Scorpion will make it. Good premise but sort of silly.

Bit of a blast from the more recent past, but an AVClub article from a few weeks ago mentioned a show called, "The Comeback". I figured since I'm almost out of HBO shows, I should give it a shot. I always disliked Kudrow, so I didn't think I'd like it.

But it's really damn good. And I say that as someone who is sick to death of cringe-comedy. There have been quite a few scenes that I had trouble making through, though the upcoming payoff (from the finale) REALLY makes me want to hurry up and get there.

And, my opinion of Kudrow was wrong. This woman can freaking tear it up when she has the material!!

It's a ****ing pilot what are ppl expecting? I thought everything was pretty good to avg. If fox wanted a gotham themed show why not break out nightwing or something if batman is too good for tv. I'm not sure if I want to get blueballed every week when I can go watch arrow.

Im going to watch later, but lol I have such low expectations given I have seen a tonne of reviews calling it really dumb, ironically given its concept.

I really enjoyed Gotham's first ep. Love the concept, I think it gives a good mix of hinting at the characters you know but also pushing them to the background as its really about a highly corrupt police force which coexists alongside a powerful organised crime family and the two will eventually push Gotham further and further towards self destruction. And then there is Gordon in the middle of it all trying to be the one good cop fighting against it all.

If they never get to the point where young Bruce grows up to be Batman, which presumably they wont, they have a really great show on their hands about the world of comics but about the normal people who dont wear masks and are mostly in the background of those stories.

I thought poor choice of actors. Far fetched yes but has the possibility.

Heck I remember when I saw the preview for Numbers and thought ok a show about solving crime with math? That is gonna last

I think Gotham has the potential to be good, and I love the influence from Batman: Year One of Gordon coming to Gotham and being shocked at all the corruption, but I thought they went a bit overboard with seemingly every background character being a future Batman villian.

Scorpion was lolstupid at times. But it guess most people find it plausible that a 7year old kid will checkmate a 170IQ Grandmaster in 8 moves.

This show also introduced the world to a young and unknown Malin Akerman's supple breasts.

I will watch Gotham because i like some of the people in it but the pilot wasnt great.

It was basically standard police procedural with a wink to the camera every 5 mins. Who is this guy?... "dont call me Penguin" oh thats Penguin. Next character walks in "hey man ive had enough of your riddles" oh so thats the Riddler. Add about another 20 examples because they introduced and told you who everyone was in the first episode. Surely half the fun of showing the birth of all these characters is leaving only hints or teases about who they will eventually become, but they assumed the audience would be too dumb for that obviously so force fed you every single character in the one episode just to make sure you get it.

I intend to give Gotham a go but it is airing over here in the UK on Channel 5, which is typically full of reruns and crap TV, so I'm not expecting too much. Or maybe I've just been spoilt by Netflix, HBO, etc.

gotham pilot wasn't super aids, that automatically qualifies it in the top 10% of network tv.

I think they went overboard a little in winking at the audience that they have this huge selection of characters to draw on over the season(s). Like the pilot had Catwoman, Batman, Penguin, Riddler, Poison Ivy and possibly others I missed. But they are probably all background/secondary characters, at least for a while, and they seem to be using them to show how Gotham created its heroes and villains - like Poison Ivy:
Spoiler:
grew to hate cops because they framed and killed her father, though he was a bad guy, for a murder he wasnt responsible for.

Its also worth noting that Arrow did basically the same thing and is near universally considered a success and actually a really solid show. Introduce characters fast then push them to the background is a decent formula.

Married is great. Not really any weak spots in the cast, maybe Hodgman.

Hodgman is awesome. He's is not for everyone, though.

Numbers definitely had a better cast and a good premise. Scorpion sounds good but when you're supposed to be going 200 mph down a runway to catch a cord to connect to a computer, that means silly and juvenile.

I really enjoyed Gotham's pilot as well, though I question the show's lifespan. If each season can consist of 3 or so years, by S4 Batman could come in the background.

I really liked Ben McKenzie in the lead role as Gordon, but the whole time I just could only picture him as Kid Chino from the OC. I also hope the build up of certain villains is more gradual.

My sis asked why didnt they just land the plane and than download the software? Heck if the plane could maintain 8 ft from the start of runaway to end why didnt it just land?

This. (They did say earlier in the episode the runway was too short, then they show the Ferrari stopping by a wall with nothing but runway on the other side.)

Lots of plot holes but I could look at Katharine McPhee all day.

I thought the same thing but it was LAX?

I missed the runaway on other side. They could have written it so the plane just needed to be within 8-10 feet and would have had a bit of reality in it
