OOTV doesnt like family comedies much huh? Raising Hope and The Middle are two of the best(possibly the best outside of NBC)comedies on tv yet no threads.

Just an observation.

I tried to like Raising Hope, and it's got a lot of acting talent in it. The problem is that none of that is in the main dude and it's not worth it to watch the show just to see Garret Dillahunt be awesome.

Sortof like with Running Wilde- it get slightly turned off by how much it's tone and basic approach is similar to My Name is Earl (which was done by Greg Garcia as well). I think that show mined "lol at poor dumb people" pretty heavily- and it turns out there's really only about 2 seasons of that before it goes stale.

I would argue it's far from "the best". Community, 30 Rock, P&R, IASIP, EB&D, Bored to Death, Cougar Town, Modern Family, The League- all better.

Haven't watched enough of The Middle to really judge, and it doesn't seem bad, but it's not anything too novel either.

Pretend Time with Nick Swardson had a few good skits last night.

The commercial for Flomax/Cialis was funny "I thought Flomax would solve my dad's problem but he still had to make frequent stops at restrooms. Then I realized that my dad wasn't peeing, he was using the bathrooms for casual sex with young men." (or something like that).

Gay robot is always funny, because Swardson's gay voice is the best in the business.

The best part was Bob Odenkirk's global warming PSA. I can't find the video online, but it was really fantastic. "With the melting of the polar ice caps, the world of our children may be underwater. Think of how different history would have been if our world was underwater." Then it cuts to an animated dramatization of Rosa Parks on an underwater bus.

I was thinking of making a ratings discussion thread but I guess we can just use this one. Interesting note that on Monday in primetime Univision beat NBC which was airing 2 original dramas and the first George Bush book tour interview. Bad times for NBC and xenophobics.

I will also use this thread to note that http://warmingglow.uproxx.com/ is a really good TV blog that you should read. More just 'cause it's amusing (as it it's functional sister site, Film Drunk) and has pictures of Lobster Dogs and Corgi Friday.

You should also read http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/whats-alan-watching because almost everybody does and it helps with forum literacy (also Alan's very good, even if he doesn't like IASIP enough and watches Grey's Anatomy).

btw watching Grey's Anatomy should be a bannable offense. It's not, but come on that show is violent crap.

Anyone interested in Covert Affairs?

Never really heard anything about it and sorta stumbled upon it the other day (it has cutthroat bitch from House in it). It was paired with White Collar that gets plenty of love but i cant seem to find anything on CA.

Its basically about a chick who joins the CIA. So its like Alias, only without the goofy paranormal stuff that made me dislike where Alias went. Its also very serious and as best i can tell realistic. No stupid gadgets, new recruits arent sent alone into the field to assassinate 50 people and rescue a nuclear scientist from North Korea.

Seems one of the better shows ive stumbled upon recently, it finished its first season of 11 eps back in September and has a second season commissioned.

As a couple examples of eps, one was a civilian walk in who discovered and decoded a numbers station (a real thing btw) and another had an ep about a brush pass which went wrong and so she had to go into hiding for a short time in Switzerland with the Swiss hunting her and those who messed up the bag switch chasing her and the contact. It also has a couple of larger arcs throughout the story that ties things together which seems interesting.

Anyway, no point starting a thread but figured id throw it out there if anyone has seen it or is looking for a random show to try out.

I probably read the AV Club's TV coverage most religiously of anyone's. (I also read Alan Sepinwall.)

Was about to go off on one thinking you were gonna post spoilers.

Start a thread, never know, might be more Psych fans out there. Or it could be like Nikita where its me, another dude and a few randoms dropping by to say how terrible the show is

granted I quit lost after 1.5 seasons but that show seems like the worst with regards to rewatchability.

I think it was mentioned in a random thread once, but thats about it. I really like it. Didn't plan on watching and wasn't interested at all from the trailers. But the roomie had it on during the pilot and it was good enough to keep me watching and it never got bad. I could do without some of the music and some of the montage'ish music sequences, but other then that, it's a damn good show.

Speaking of music im very disappointed that the theme tune's band doesnt have an album out (unsigned right now) and that they changed their name recently from "Apple Trees and Tangerines" to "Power".

Thats like the best indy name ive heard since Los Campesinos. I guess industry interest doesnt combine with being called AT&T.

Grey's is a good compromise show. It's gotten worse since the beginning, but I watch it with my wife for the points.

And McDreamy is, well, dreamy.

Univision tied NBC last night. For some reason this makes me laugh.

Good series, looking forward to the 2nd season. I thought about starting a thread about it, but figured the forum would pan it as a chick series. Same sentiment with The Good Wife. The 1st season arc was great and continues with the 2nd.

Yeah, finished it yesterday. It probably is a chick show because she is a CIA agent who never carries a gun, but i liked it.

It get a lot better from the 4th on. Some good episodic eps and seasonal plot lines start coming to a head around then.

The Ben story continues sporadically, and for those looking for another taste of Charles Logan from 24 (Gregory Itzin) he makes an appearance late in the season.
