Lettuce hear your reasons for why s2 has been worse.

They seem identical in quality to me. So I would favor 1 for that practically arbitrary reason of freshness. But else is wrong?

S2 has been a little more inconsistent, but the last few episodes are as good as it gets. If S1 was a 9.5 this is 9.0 and may reach 10 status with the finale. It’s the best tv show in years.

s1 had:

the mass shooting
the first day excitement/drama for so many characters
the drug addiction dilemma
the pregnant dr
brad dourf cameo(father/daughter)
the mass shooter suspect kid
ankle monitor

Finally got around to watching Dune: Prophecy, and it was fairly solid. Delivered on its premise of watching little one hour mini Dune movies, is how I viewed it. Getting me in the mood to rewatch Part 1 and 2 before the finale this December.

Halfway through The Pitt S2 and I'd say the first 7 or so episodes have been of equal quality to the first season, just with maybe slightly less emotional hit. Based on above posts I'm sure it's coming though.

Your #2-5 don't make sense as this season has the same thing (#5... substitute Al-Hashimi for Collins).

Wylie's wife made a cameo this season.

You are probably missing the douche from S1, though. And also the birth episode.

And you are also missing the Louie episode from S2, which was fantastic.

I will agree that S1 is better, but that's a pretty tough season to beat.

S5E1 of Hacks was pretty terrible. This whole "oh how is Deborah going to get out of this one" to her getting the last laugh has become akin to later seasons of Entourage. I will watch since it's the last season and hope it gets better, but yikes that was not encouraging.

Totally agree on hacks. Didn’t make it through the whole episode. Every one of them was just chewing the hell out of the scenery.

This season of The Pitt took a bit for me to catch on to what they were doing but I never thought the quality dropped at all. Season 1 had THE BIG THING happen and when I stopped waiting for one this season, it all clicked. I do wonder if the season ends on a crazy cliffhanger though

Collins>>>>>>> Al hashimi imo

and who cares about wylie's wife? brad dourf is fantastic! and him playing the dad of his real life daughter was great.

agree that season 1 is very tough to beat

Pitt season 2 is still one of the best things on tv, despite the drop off from season one

I'll counter with a couple of things in s2 that it seems you miss, or are dismissing.

1. Having to go manual when they shut all electronic systems down. Underscores how our reliance on technology can be used against us. I love how they addressed one issue by drafting a retired nurse to help manage the cluster***.

2. The impact of the ICE presence in the ER and how that reality impacted healthcare workers doing their job. Still reference to the fallout from that in e14.

3. A continuation of the end of s1 wrt violence against healthcare workers (esp. females)

4. The episode where the gritty charge nurse has to switch to a calming personality and do the rape kit on the victim. This one hit a nerve with me. My ex-wife was an NP and also a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner).

In addition, my current wife of 23 years worked 30 years in an ER, so the whole show is pretty relevant to her.

just my opinion, but s1 stuff was better than all this s2 stuff.

Not saying I disagree, except for the amount of greater than symbols, but what the show has done with Al-Hashimi's physical look has been very good.

I like the actress a lot better. and her story was more compelling, and sympathetic.

Al hashimi came in confrontational, which can be a great thing, but it just didn't work for me.

Collins had some humor. don't think al hashimi has had any.

Same can be said for charm imo

Everything that you have said about Collins left in one instant. I'm not a fan of Al-Hashimi, but she's had her moments. Both characters with Robbie.

You're also leaving out Joy in S2 who is hilarious.

DTf stuck the landing. I felt like that was the best ending of the available options.

It really did! There's something about the way that the creator uses music that is as good as I've experienced since earlier QT. Honestly probably better since it hits on such an emotional level. He did the same with Patriot. A simple scene and a simple song just gut punch the **** out of you, seemingly out of nowhere.

DTF finale didn't resonate quite as much with me, but definitely a really solid show with great performances no matter how you slice it. And indeed it is a reminder that pretty much everyone has a veneer.

DTF was a great show. Was there even an average episode?

The ending was going to be critical to how the show was perceived, at least for me. This is usually where the writers pull something out of left field that doesn't make sense. Also, the casting was pretty much spot on. The two detectives played perfectly off of each other and the older one cracked me up. I'd like to see some outtakes from the two leads.

Never heard of Patriot, but that will be my next watch.

He will always be the therapist from There's Something About Mary to me.

Also for DTF...

Spoiler:

I'm not sure I like the 180 on Carol. She still seemed to want to get out of poverty.

Also, she now gets nothing?

So the only people that are happy are the detectives?

Clark lost his marriage, Carol doesn't get the life insurance, and Richard loses a friend that he desperately needed.

It's a sad story that seems to be the result of a curved dick.

Re: not getting anything- is that because you think his death will be ruled a suicide? Was it expressly discussed at any point? Could just as easily be determined to be accidental, right?
