Ozark

Holy cow, I didn't bother with this when it first came out because it was a Bateman and Linney and I figured it would be some cute, funny gangster **** and I could wait on it.

Just saw the pilot...might be one of the best pilots I've ever seen. Show is DARK with a capital D. Bateman rules. The scene's with Del were intense times 10.

Can't wait to binge this.

Agree re the pilot. I really liked both seasons, kinda filled my Breaking Bad void

The pilot is great. The rest of the show not so much. I mean it's not bad at all, but the quality gap between the pilot and the rest is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) i've ever seen.

Goes from super dark to hardly dark at all, really.

the pace of Ozark is stupid with one huge cliffhanger per episode that get you numb to whatever happens to the characters pretty fast.

Really sadly true. Don't think I've ever watched a show where each successive episode gets consistently worse. Maybe not quite true, the first half of season 1 is pretty solid but it goes downhill really quickly the second half and season 2 is lolbad.

I gave up early in Season 2. It was pretty much straight downhill after the first episode of Season 1.

I agree and have commented here before that the pilot has been the highlight of the show for me so far by a significant margin, but Ozark is still extremely bingeable and quite enjoyable if you can suspend your disbelief.

I was pretty excited about Ozarks after the pilot but the only reason I finished season 1 was because my bf liked it. I told him to watch the second season by himself.

you guys are nuts, I've loved the first season of Ozark...especially all the background about Laura Linney's depression, the FBI guy, and how Marty began working with Del. It's all been great....and I like the children, the nutty redneck chick who wants to kill Marty, and the gal who owns the Blue Cat.

It's got a Breaking Bad/Justified vibe going that I'm digging.

it's worth watching for Bateman alone, but the whole cast is fantastic and the cinematography is great as well.

the plot is lol absurd and u have to turn off your brain, but it's quite fun and the acting makes up for the giant plot holes imo.

Ozark was very underwhelming for me. Thought the pilot was great and it was going to be a fast paced Breaking Bad. It turned into a family drama though and lost my interest. At the end of S1 I had no desire to continue.

I do not understand for one minute what paying extra for a bunch of work on the strip club and Blue Cat will contribute to laundering Del's money, but I let that go lol.

I mean, I guess if Del owned all the business Marty was paying, but that really wouldn't make much sense either.

Everything else is so good, I'm not worrying about the McGuffin.

Wow, the ending of season 1 of Ozark was amazing. Holy cow. Not sure how Marty is going to get out of this. And...

Spoiler:
Man, Rachel taking off with the loot was awesome....wonder how much of it she got?

and

Spoiler:
holy crap I really thought that Mason killed his damn baby. I was going "no no no no" until he finally baptized the kid. Jesus that was dark.

I can't believe some of you didn't like this.

Yeah but remember when
Spoiler:
The really dumb hillbillies find all of his money so they steal it, then he tells them that stealing isn't good and they should give the money back so they give the money back?

There were definitely parts that I enjoyed, but as a whole the season was mediocre at best imo.

It was watchable but not even close to BB or Justified.

of course it's not on the level of BB or justified, those are 2 of the greatest shows of all time.

he was simply saying it had the same vibe which is in no way suggesting it's anywhere near as good.

I mostly agree with Dominics praise for Ozark season 1.
The overall hate for season 2 among fans and critics have kept me from watching it though.
