The last thing is most likely the scene with the snowcastle she builds for Sweetrobin in the Eyrie.

1) most people think that implicates euron, yeah. a popular opinion is that he hired a faceless man to shove his brother off the bridge.

2) yeah, since house baelish's old sigil was a titan, that could imply that sansa causes littlefinger's downfall. another possibility is that GRRM was just having a laugh, and that the prophecy was realised when sansa built a miniature winterfell out of snow and had her altercation with little robert arryn.

1. Is "I dreamt of a man without a face, waiting on a bridge that swayed and swung. On his shoulder perched a drowned crow with seaweed hanging from his wings." meant to imply Euron (Crow's Eye) is behind Balon's death?

2. "I dreamt of a maid at a feast with purple serpents in her hair, venom dripping from their fangs." is Sansa at the Purple Wedding, but "And later I dreamt that maid again, slaying a savage giant in a castle built of snow." must refer to some event from Winds of Winter or later, correct?
Balon was killed by a faceless man, hired by Euron for the price of a dragon egg. That's the prevailing theory.

#1 Yeah it's implying that Euron hired a faceless man to kill Balon

#2 could be referring to snow Winterfell and sweet Robin getting his ass kicked by Sansa.

Hmm I always thought it was about when that giant died when the wildlings raided the wall?
edit: nevermind, didn't read the "that maid again" bit. no way it's about the wall

She was at the Purple Wedding with the veil with purple crystals in it. These were used to poison Joff. Later she built a castle of snow, and a giant (by comparison) attacked it. She fought him off

Just rewatching Trailer #3, noticed that Littlefinger says. "Always keep your foes confused, if they don't know who you are..."

And at that point, the new Daario Naharis comes into view. Of course most people won't know who he is since he's been recast. Meta joke or coincidence?

not sure if this has been posted yet, but it gives some insight into the TV endgame.

it's similar to what I and others have said - the TV shows may very well fork from the books, BUT they will have been given some direction (but not specifics) from GRRM. he won't give specifics out.

Quote:
For their part, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss say they would definitely like to see Game Of Thrones wrap after seven or eight seasons. “It doesn’t just keep on going because it can,” Weiss says. “I think the desire to milk more out of it is what would eventually kill it, if we gave in to that.” And with that deadline in mind—as well as the advancing age of the show’s child actors, who may all have child actors of their own by the time Martin gets done—Martin tells Vanity Fair he’s well aware that “this is a serious concern… Time is passing very slowly in the books and very fast in real life.”
...

Quote:
GRRM sat down with Benioff and Weiss, who say they recently spent a whole, non-writing week with Martin in Santa Fe in which they attempted to pry the ending out of him. “If you know the ending, then you can lay the groundwork for it,” Benioff says. “And so we want to know how everything ends. We want to be able to set things up. So we just sat down with him and literally went through every character.” And while Martin says he couldn’t get give them the details, at the very least “I can give them the broad strokes of what I intend to write,” adding, in a statement not exactly brimming with confidence, “I’m hopeful that I can not let them catch up with me.”

In the meantime, at least the show now has a general idea of what sort of finale it’s working toward, three or four seasons from now—even if that only gives Martin three or four years to finish two books, which would mean significantly stepping up his one-book-every-five-or-six-years pace.

I think the viewership will fall apart with 3-5 years between the last few seasons...

Oh I'm not saying they should wait but I think that so much of what makes the show good comes from the greatness of the books and they will have a very difficult time going forward without that source material.

Yeah I can't imagine the show if every scene were made by the HBO writers, even if I've been impressed by the added scenes overall I think a lot of them fall short and there'd be way more of the latter without having GRRM's scenes to work off of.

If the tv show overtakes the books does that mean that show viewers will be banned from this thread?

lol, that would be so awesome. I will stop watching the show and reading this thread I think.

I'm still torn if I'd wait for the books or continue watching.

I'm afraid spoilers would become so mainstream and the show would diverge so much at that point that it'd be kind of pointless anyways.

I think the show will be better for not following the books. I enjoyed reading books 4+5, but they were a big comedown after the first 3 books. Hopefully the show avoids the meanderings of those books.

I accept that the show will miss some of GRRM's scenes, but based on what is already in place (the characters and setup), no reason to think the show writers can't do a great job.

Many added scenes for the show have been fantastic, up there with the best book-generated scenes. Cersei/Robert, the chair moving scene, some Littlefinger Varys scenes, Tywin/Arya, Tywin/Joffrey scenes.

Yeah if they had decided to follow books 4 and 5 pretty closely that would have been a disaster

GRRM created some amazing characters and an interesting world. And some amazing scenes. But he has largely farted around for the last 1,000 pages so I'm not too worried that the TV guys could take it from here and do something as interesting as what he's planning
