Yeah, what's with Locke at the wall? Wonder if he'll be the one Jon beheads or if he'll be part of the ones stabbing Jon. Most likely it's the second since slynt is still in the show

So I just introduced the show to a friend of mine today. She doesn't know anything about the show or universe previously.

In the 2nd episode where Cersei is talking about the child she lost that looked just like Robert, she said "Oh did they kill that baby and the other three are all from incest? The other ones look like they could be from that blonde brother and sister"

Jaw dropped.

She's seen all the shows, read all the books, and been to every GOT wiki there is. She just wanted to **** with you.

I like Roose or Walder Frey as neutral evil better. I don't think that there are any lawful good characters after the lol Starks are all dead.

Hm. Fair point. Also both good choices.

Heh, that's why Davos is the best I can do. Decent candidate for it IMO, as he aspires to uphold the code of a true knight, but puts what he believes the higher moral duty to be first and foremost in his mind (ie saving Gendry/Edric).

I kinda like Barristan Selmy for lawful good.

Guess I should refresh the page before posting.

I think Jon Snow is as close to Lawful Good as we can get. Barristan's good too though.

Brienne seems like the most obvious lawful good

I think Jon Snow as Neutral Good seems about right. He always seems to be motivated by moral motives, and he tries to live by a a very strong code, but he ends up breaking that code when works against those motives on multiple occasions.

But I don't think I agree with Arya as Chaotic Good. She seems almost entirely motivated by personal vengeance, rather than some sort of higher morality. Pure vengeance doesn't seem particularly "good" to me, and the single-mindedness in which she pursues it also doesn't really seem "chaotic".

I'm also not sure I see Varys as Neutral. I guess it depends on whether you seem "the Realm" as having the capacity to actually do good. I think Varys does. He believes that helping "the Realm" (and this means using any means necessary to put a good ruler on the Throne) will help the most people in the long run. E.g. His willingness to murder Kevan because he was "a good man serving a bad cause" strikes me as Chaotic Good.

Agreed on Jon Snow, he lies and breaks oaths and kills in service of the greater good.

Selmy Ned and Hodor are the only lawful good characters that I can think of in the books. I don't think Arya fits on the good column at all. At best she's a neutral.

I would consider Tywin to be closer to Lawful Neutral. He accepts evil deeds, but only for the cause of order/ his family.

Arya being in the good column is somewhat hilarious, but I guess she is still more good than bad in season 4 of the show.

I feel like GoT was made almost to counter simplistic categorisations like this.

Like Walder Frey, let's see things from his perspective: Avoids war, promotes peace. Keeps his family safe. Takes revenge on someone who draws him in to a war then betrays him. Even considering mass murder as evil, the people he killed were mostly dying anyway, all he did was prevent a bunch of southerners from dying too.

What law has Brienne broken that she is only neutral good? She's as lawful good as this show has. In a tournament of lawful good's its Ned vs Brienne for the championship
