Well the difference is that Lost and the new Stars Wars sucks balls. The old Star Wars was awesome, hard to go beyond 2d characters in such a short story format that has so much going so that doesn't really matter matter.

Every time Star Wars is dark and evil it does well. Every time it's silly and family it sucks. Doesn't seem tough to figure out.

Yeah that's the other thing, D&D like some darkness and will probably go with a slightly darker take. And I think that will appeal to general audiences and to fans who hated the screwball comedy vibe of TLJ. I wouldn't be shocked if D&D pitched it to Disney as a darker take on Star Wars. I mean that's what D&D are known for now and Disney aren't total morons, they can see there's an appetite for slightly darker stuff out there at the moment.

Make it a cooking show

Every episode starts with hot pie going through the ingredients, describing how it's gonna taste, and doing all the preparation, then he puts it in to the oven but every time a battle breaks out and the kitchen is burned down, and he turns to the camera and shrugs while smiling

(Still better than "herp deep who has a story")

Not amazing, but way better than the actual season of GoT. Unreal the sets they built. That floored me.

they also have flat out admitted in an interview they had no idea what they were doing, which judging from S6+, after source material ran out, isn't really that much of a revelation...

They still managed to land a massive netflix deal. No idea why as they clearly got lucky with working of a great story.

Oh come on, that is not a white male thing. Netflix is known for just throwing money at the wall and seeing what sticks. I'm sure you could make a list of actors or directors whose career was in a difficult spot and got a good deal at Netflix. (I guess they all might be white males)
