Like I said, I dont care about the teleporting bits in the show. I only care when they don't have content to fill the gaps because they're not good enough to write it. It's like grrm told them "Jon goes from point 1 to point 5" and they can't come up with points 2 3 and 4 by themselves so they just skip to 5. So one more time, I'm not complaining because it's not physically possible to go from point 1 to 5 in x time.

Did it bug anyone else when Tarly was going off about Dany being "foreign-born" or whatever and her not immediately correcting him ("I was born at Dragonstone")?

There shouldn't be. Casterly Rock isn't an island. It looked from that scene like they were stranded/surrounded by Euron's fleet but they could theoretically just abandon the rock and march on foot back to Dragonstone.

They talk about that in ep 4 iirc.

What would you guys do if you were in Jon/Danny's spot?
Seems like the best move is to fool cersei into thinking they are ready to invade at all times while they fight north, no? Telling cersei they are about to fight a battle in the opposite direction is probably the worst thing they could do. Maybe use two dragons up north and leave one dragon + a few dothraki attacking strategic points so they are never at ease to find out where Dany really is? Mobility shouldn't be a problem considering they have horses and a dragon.

Dany has three dragons ffs, any commentary on strategy which doesn't factor them in is a waste of time.

At the very least, she should be flying over KL out of ballista range at least once a day. If nothing else that keeps Cersei's troops immobilized. Who knows she might even encourage the smallfolk in KL to rise up against whatever is left of the Lannisters. Butnahhh we'll choose the dumbest option available to us as usual.

Seems pretty clear that even if Cersei does see a wight and agrees to help the good guys that Cersei will end up backstabbing/putting them in a bad position/sending them out to die/whatever in an attempt to hold the throne after the undead threat is done.

Best strategy now is what it should have been from the start: blitz the **** out of KL and take her out, then take control of the armies which are really only following Cersei because the writers want to make the Dany invasion seem more even than it is.

It's basically a stone lock Gendry is either on the Iron Throne at the end or put up by someone (Cersei, shocking everyone and splintering the other side?) as the rightful king, right?

What odds can I get Gendry is on the Iron Throne?

Dany should really just burn the Red Keep. One good foray and burn a bunch of the palace. Let the little folk get a good look.

She should probably burn that ememy fleet that's just chilling at Casterly Rock while she's at it

pretty funny bit from the NPR reviewer:

OK, let's take stock. Sam is still around, but House Tarly is effectively snuffed out. Ditto House Tyrell, and House Martell. Plenty of lesser houses are in similar states of disarray. House Frey is finished, House Tully is bouillabaisse, House Party is over, House Music muted, House Boat is scuttled, House Plant died of thirst, House Elf is shelved, House Salad wilted, House Dressing scattered to the Thousand Islands, House Red is dead, House White is corked, House Speaker is very concerned, and House Hunters are really just awful people who think the universe owes them an open-plan kitchen.

Thank you! There are obviously a ton of nitpicks to be made (like the Jamie/Bron washing up on shore safely, even though Dany was like 2 feet away and that Dragon could have kept circling the water until they came up), but the one that truly seems outrageous is that Euron's fleet is still alive. They have no way of preventing the dragons from doing fly overs and burning every single ship. Ever since the shot at Casterly Rock scene, it has tilted me.

Well, Yara is still captive of Euron, ans I assume they don't want to accidentally burn her up with all the other Iron Islanders.

I think there is a solid chance Jon ends up in the iron thrown, now that it's known to the audience that Jon is not actually a bastard in any way, but a son of prince rhegar and his wife

gendry will probably be jon's "best man", like a reversed robert to ned

or he dies.

There's no way Gendry has a massive role after missing for a few seasons.

only reason it was included was so when the book is referenced later on to prove Jon is legit, that future moment won't be seen as a deux ex machina ass-pull.

i mean, as it stands it's already a bit of an ass-pull, but they needed to throw that in to make the later reveal feel less like it came out of thin air.

I have a sinking feeling that they're never going to actually resolve Jon's lineage in the current time. Think about it

-Bran knows but that dude is crazy lol visions lol trees

-Sam WOULD have known but he couldn't stfu long enough for Gilly to finish reading the passage from that book to him

-Sam and Gilly and Jr. loaded up the wagon and headed out of Oldtown presumably without that book in tow

The maesters probably don't know and wouldn't care even if they did know. Where is that book now? Probably lost under some stack of **** somewhere.
