Strong-willed at least. I vaguely remember (I read the books years ago) Ned telling Robert that she was full of fire and wouldn't have taken any of his bullcrap.

I think this was the case. I seem to remember lines of Aerys watching from his throne or something. I am not sure however, whether in the books there were fivehundred people watching.

One extra snip of info I seem to remember is that this got Aerys so horny that he went to his wife's bedchamber for the first time in a long time and they had Daeny.

And for people who have read all the books:
Everything you ever wanted to know about Robert's Rebellion and more
(contains info from all the books and some very minor pieces of info GRRM seems to have given at interviews)

^That was a good read. I'm really looking forward to my second go though of the books.

Also, its great to see the ratings increasing.

<3 Stephen King and a big +1 to his short stories being really great.

How is that even remotely synonymous to "bat-**** crazy".

OTOH Howland Reed did survive The Tower of Joy and the crannogmen were close to the Children of the Forest so its believable that he has some "powers" that gave him an advantage over larger knights.
I do kind of love the flippant dismissal of theories that have been bandied about and discussed from every possible angle for (quite literally) a decade. Suffice to say that Lyanna was an expert on a horse, Jaime remarks at one point that jousting is mostly about horsemanship, and the knights that the KotLT defeated were not exactly what you would call renowned.

God, what this thread needs is more discussion of inane theories cooked up by nerds who appear to be unaware that Westeros doesn't exist and the books are fictional.
05-05-2011 , 11:11 AM
No, what it needs is more people who pretend to be aloof from the "nerds" but still can't seem to stop participating in threads where the discussion of the minutiae of unabashed nerd material is the sole purpose.
05-05-2011 , 11:30 AM
I agree, yes, more normal people who happen to have read and enjoyed these books would help the thread.

News flash: you're posting in an Internet message board about the details of a TV series based upon fantasy books. You're not normal.

If the prevailing theory about Jon Snow's parentage is true, then that would make Dany his aunt, correct?

ha! I'm reading The Sword Sword for the first time today in fact. The Hedge Knight was just great, haven't read The Mystery Knight yet but I have it. The stories take place about 100 years before Game of Thrones and feature Ser Duncan the Tall, a hedge knight from Flea Bottom, and Egg, but I'm not going to say who he is.

FWIW regarding the identity of the Knight of the Laughing Tree, here's what The Citadel has to say on the subject. Not some wild theory that I just pulled out of my ass, honest.

Fly, can you go and be thread captain somewhere else? You are tarding up this thread.
05-05-2011 , 05:19 PM
Disagree.
05-05-2011 , 05:32 PM
Fly is not the one tarding up this thread.

Spoiler:
I challenge you to a duel
05-05-2011 , 05:37 PM
Anyone who has read A Feast For Crows should have some idea who Egg might be.

I haven't read any of the Tales of Dunk and Egg yet...
05-05-2011 , 05:44 PM
Less talk of who is tarding and less tarding plz.

I don't really disagree with Fly's points, but he could be less harsh in making them.
05-05-2011 , 05:46 PM
Fly was being a douche to shaffer(and got owned, imo) and I, for one, hope shaffer sticks around.

Lol, I wanted to link to the FTP Doug answer thread in FullRinguNL and missed that I hadn't copied the link into my cache yet, resulting in the link being to the post about Robert's Rebellion up there.
The reactions were quite interesting...

I can't wait to finally meet howland reed, I imagine it has to happen in ADWD
05-05-2011 , 06:42 PM
kinda don't wanna read anymore. i finished clash of the kings and decided to spoil myself and read about the red wedding. seems like a gauntlet of bad **** happening to characters i actually like and it's trying on my soul. starting to feel like sadomasochism or whatever to me. sometimes i feel like they kill off so many people the author has to replace em all with new characters that i have to learn about all over again. there will be no justice in these books. if anything semi-good happens, it's to make the next depressing thing happen feel worse. f u george martin

yes i mad, gonna go watcha disney movie now
