ya the confession doesn't really explain the TIME TRAVEL necessary

A reasonable hypothesis is that this Atom Smasher is from an alternate reality and wants to go home. Zoom promised to help him if he killed Barry. Maybe his reality is kind of like Earth-3 and the man introducing himself as Jay Garrick will turn out to be Zoom.

And maybe Ronnie fell into that reality and isn't dead. I mean, probably not. They killed off Ronnie because Robbie Amell is moving on to movie projects. And it seems like they are setting Garrick up to be a mentor for Barry, so I can see Zoom killing Garrick at some point.

Plus, we're supposed to be getting
Spoiler:
Wally West
this season. And
Spoiler:
he's going to be black, just like in the DCnu
.

Pretty sure a DA can't just release someone who was convicted of murder just because some video evidence shows up that offers a new alternative but where the new suspect had disappeared and where there are holes in the timeline like the car crash the same night and a likely alibi of Wells if they digged into where the real Wells was that night when travelling back with his wife.

Even if they could they wouldn't do it overnight lol. I'm pretty sure it takes a court hearing and will involve a lot of consultation because letting out convicted murderers is not particularly easy by design.

So yeah, I guess the least realistic thing this episode wasn't the guy running faster than the speed of sound to stabilise a black hole.

Both Atom Smasher and Jay Garrick are from Earth-2.

I don't remember, but was Thawne/Wells ever called Professor Zoom on the show? In the comics, he was known by that name.

What people should know is that PZ and Zoom are two different people.

In the comics, the characters that are heroes on Earth-1 are villains on Earth-3 and have different names. For example, on Earth-3, their speedster is named Johnny Quick.

I agree that letting out Flash's dad overnight, and then him auto-leaving were pretty WTF.

Would probably have worked better to have him stick around a few episodes, have Barry miss a confrontation cause he was with dad, then have dad give the whole "I'm holding you back" speech.

Or simply have him say that after being cooped up so long, he needed to travel.

Hopefully they've got so much good stuff lined up they didn't want to waste time on this.

meh, if that had happened then there would have been two slow episodes where we were all like "zomg no action this show sucks" etc.

who cares, now we can move along with the Garrick/Zoom Storyline

The series is running the risk of the alternate worlds overshadowing the original world.

I fixed your post to show all were complicit in the deaths and not just Barry.

However, I am not sure Sand Demon is dead. If he is anything like Marvel's Sandman, he can control his bodily molecules and reform himself even though what dispersed him seems to have killed him.

For those who don't know, 52 is a veiled DC reference.

For those who are interested, the comic book version of Sand Demon looked like Martin Stein and was a Firestorm villain.

Liked episode 202. This show has great special effects especially in the final battle scene. Electric bolts all over the place. Sand blasts. Cisco's psychic visions.
Also Flash 2 is a good actor to make that role believable. The show needed somebody like that.
(Some of the show's dialogue is sophomoric though).

I am gonna nit it up and say I was annoyed with how they went out of their way to say he wasn't actually made out of sand early in the episode, then the method used to defeat him relied on him literally being made out of sand. Also stop killing people!

And I thought Jay said he wasn't able to defeat Sand Demon because he couldn't throw lightning, but in congratulating Barry it seemed like Jay was saying he could throw lightning.

If I were Barry I'd just use that lightning bolt on like everything. Murder count would go up, but the undefeated ratio would stay pat
