Fargo - Season 3 Fargo - Season 3

I'm starting to wonder if everyone's bizarre hostility to ****'s character ties in with how doors don't see her. The US Marshal should be very interested in learning that there was someone in protective custody who had just survived an assassination attempt on that bus!

Best ep yet this season. Bowling alley and forest scenes were fantastic.

****'s character has not been given much to do since she got back from LA. Not sure they needed the other female cop character at all. I think perhaps all the machines not working for her is a statement on how women are ignored and treated as invisible (especially in a male-dominated profession like policing). Seems to be a pretty feminist season overall... the women all kick ass and are good, and the men are losers or criminals.

Varga and Nikki are the 2 standouts this season. I'm hoping Nikki exacts revenge on behalf of Ray, the fact that she's survived this long makes me hopeful.

No love for the new episode? This show is ramping up. The Varga-Nikki hotel scene was amazing. Also loved Gloria realizing that she's a real human being. You could tell how distraught Emmitt felt when he was released from the police and had to go back to his real prison. I still can't tell why Varga is so invested in Emmitt's survival... whatever he's actually doing, I feel like he could do it without him. Seems like he picked a good face for his endeavors and is going to stick with him.

Eventually we're going to figure out exactly what Varga's business plan is. At least I hope so. All of that global computer screen stuff and all.

I fully expect them to treat Varga's business as a sort of "MacGuffin" device. Last season we had Deus Ex Machina. This season MacGuffin. They will just leave it as "Varga had a Byzantine business structure" and then get on with the killing. Varga sort of explained their actions by stating that they just need Emmitt's signature. Varga wants to force him to sell the business and then abscond with the cash.

So do y'all generally feel like the twists and turns of the last couple of episodes have brought season 3 up to the levels of 1 and 2? I was hoping that would happen but it hasnt got there for me. They made Nikki into an unkillable plot-armored character and then just doubled down making her literally god's chosen soldier of righteousness. You're left with the suspense of if the coyote's acme bomb is gonna activate correctly and blast the roadrunner. Which is to say there isnt any. Anyway something about this season just did not hit the mark for me which sucks- first true detective took its nose-dive and now fargo is limping in hard to the finish line. I'd imagine this will be the final season.

So where can it go from here: Next I expect we get to see Varga put in check by the Goldfarb boss lady and maybe that brings in some more hitman types to go after Nikki, whom she systematically executes and outsmarts, ultimately getting away with the blackmail money...and then perhap the ladycop team takes her down at the very end. At this point she's clear on the Ray killing with the stooge confessing to it, but lady cops will say that doesnt mean your parole hasnt been revoked and we are gonna have questions about this money and new charges will be unearthed....but then the god swoops in and says hey ladycops, good job, but these women are ordained and pass judgment so let her go. Roll credits.

It's outrageous to say this season, while at this point worse than 1 or 2, is anywhere near like TD season 2. TD's second season was legitimately bad, this is excellent but not as excellent.

It's a backloaded season for sure compared to the first two, but there are still 2 episodes left and it's trending up.

Agreed its not bad like TD s2, but its not excellent either. I would rate this around 7,5.

Fargo s1&2 9,5. TD s1 9,5, TD s2 6.

This is true, however in my small local bar & grill we serve them in a glass (one of my customers brings in her own copper mug...). Copper mugs are so expensive now that bars can't afford to use them unless they don't mind replacing them every month due to customers walking out with them.

Mules have gotten hugely popular in the last couple of years. I went damn near 30 years without serving 1 and now we go through a couple of cases of ginger beer a week.

TD season 2 was so bad I stopped watching it after 3 or 4 episodes. To give you an idea of how truly bad that is I'm still watching TWD and Orphan Black but yet I gave up on TD.

This season of Fargo, while maybe not up to the quality of the 1st 2 seasons, is still very enjoyable IMHO.

RD S2 was a lot worse than a 6, closer to 4. I think S3 of Fargo is a good B.

It's also not coming from a pre-mix. That's the only way the bartender can serve the drink in less than 30 seconds.

I'll wait for the last episode to grade the season but even if the finale is outstanding the season won't come close to the first two. FWIW, Noah Hawley already said that he doesn't have any plans for another season. So that might be it until somebody comes to reboot it. (Or Hawley pulls a David Lynch)

After learning that people are mad at S3 for doing misandry I'm gonna bump it up to 8.5

Between the incessant man-hate and the unfaithful portrayal of vodka based cocktails, I am not even going to bother watching the finale. Season is a bust, I give it a 5.1 out of 7.

Hawley/writers handled death throughout series with comedic effect pretty often. Whole revenge a dish best served cold with Emmit scene, for example.

Really wanted to see Varga get got bc of his smug demeanor and disdain for others. Left with the slight possible conspiracy of some shadowy figure that will bail him out leaves me a bit unsatisfied, even if unlikely IMO. Meh, an unclear resolution was what hawley was going for so perhaps not even important here.

I liked the very last scene. Choose your own reality, how fitting right now whether intentionally or not.

Season as a whole, pretty disappointing relative to the previous seasons but still worth watching. Wonder if Hawley overextended himself.

I appreciate what they were trying to do this season, but it never really quite jelled, did it?
