Spoiler:
I'm pretty sure it's Mike Milligan, Bokeem Woodbine's character in s2. He's a KC gangster sent to deal with the Gerhardts. Most likely the little kid traded to the Italian mob and being looked after by the Irish youth named Milligan

Interesting theories!

I actually did think of pindawgs guess. I didn't think of Kurn's, but that makes a lot of sense.

Not a lot of Coen Brothers/Fargo universe feel nor reference so far in this season.

Some of the camera angles and landscape shots feel like Coen cinematography.

The prison escape scene seemed to reference "Raising Arizona"

I feel like the brother from Italy was a reference to Jon Polito

And of course the nurse's accent.

Chris Rock does not do it for me. The Italians on the other hand, esp the skinny guy are pretty scary. Well not the weak brother but I dont think thats his role.

I actually like Chris Rock in the role. Sort of the intellectual gangster as opposed the standard physical threat.

Also, if nobody has made the connection, Glynn Turman, the actor playing Doctor Senator, was Mayor Royce in The Wire

didnt know that was Royce. he looks a lot older.

also, I dont see CR as intellectual either. they def try to portray him that way with the dialogue but again, he doesnt sell it for me. and I am usually pretty easy on actors.

Perfect line for this election year in the US.

In the first episode when the Italians and Irish trade kids, is it clear who the Italian kid that gets traded is? Is it Josto?

Yeah, I agree. Some comedic actors can seamlessly cross over to drama, like Bryan Cranston. Some can not. Let's just say Chris Rock isn't exactly Cranston here.

I think he might have really worked as one of the minor members of the group. Someone a bit lower on the totem pole than Doctor Senator. Just make it a bigger part and Rock would crush that.

There are a few things that they've put in there that are perfect for Rock. The part where he asks his mother in law if he can get an "MMM HMM" is a good example.

Took me a few weeks to finally realize that Genny from Gomorrah is Gaetano in this season of Fargo, haha.

Slow pony but finally got around to watching this season of Fargo and I fully agree with this. I think Rock seems miscasted; I'm waiting for the punchline after he says anything. He doesn't seem intimidating or boss material IMO.

Overall, I still think this season is worth a watch. Not quite the same as the first two but not bad.

For me, Schwartzman was more of a miscast than Rock. They were both okay. The lady who played Orietta Mayflower however, was ****ing amazing.

Anyway, solid season. Elite addendum at the end there!

I have one episode left. It's been slow this season. I haven't been as excited to watch as past seasons but it still beats 90% of the other dreck on TV. Agree re: Oreatta and I sort of like the girl across the street.

I would rank them

2>1>3>4 I think pending the S4 finale

Schwartzmann was supposed to be an incompetent boss, I thought he played it well enough. Chris Rock, I don't think stacked up to how that character was written on the page

Season was definitely slow and the overall story had quite a few holes imo. But great tie in at the end during the credits

Dem psycho eyes. I was wondering how well known Gomorra is, good to see it mentioned. Brilliant show!

Timothy Olyphant oozes Billy Bob Thornton energy this season. Chris Rock holds up very well, hope he takes on more roles like this. It does feel like a completely different show compared to the first three seasons, so I can understand why people are turned off by it

You may be the first person giving it a recommendation here. I'll give it a go when I get hulu back.

Season 5

So far it feels like a return to form. Perhaps a bit too much lifted from the Movie "Fargo". Couple of scenes, characters, and other items were a little too directly taken from the movie. Almost a retelling of parts of the original story.

Still, some pretty good references that were more subtle as well. Almost too many references to count.

I liked the return of the ice scraper. Was "Scotty" the name of the young son in the movie? Seemed like the location with the shootout on the road might have been the same place where Buscemi buried the money in the snow (and marked it with the ice scraper).

The blending of the TV and Movie Fargo universes seems a bit more deliberate in this season. Also, Ole Munch is clearly based on Chigurh from "Old Country..."

Plenty of other good stuff. Nice rebound from Season 4 so far.
