I thought this episode was great. Maybe due to lack of books but it didn't feel appreciably slower to me, tons going on!

One would think the basic social security could be slightly better by then considering it already is in most western EU countries.

30 billion people makes that problematic, even with 23rd century technology

+1 to this - did I miss a scene where they actually give a reason or motivation why she wants to keep the missile still being there secret from everyone?

I'd have to rewatch but I think yes?

She's not ready to throw away a technology that might potentially make life better for belters.

Yeah she's of a similar mind to Fred Johnson (not that she trusts him with it tho), I want to say the scenes when she decided to keep it secretly were around a similar time to deciding to help disable the control lockout on the nukes (or even that scene itself)

Not to mention that she's not so naive as to believe nobody else has the technology, thus some needs to be preserved to counter other interests that might still have it. Balance of power.

I like the show but the overall acting could be better. The actors tend either underact (
Amos: "I'm not a homicidal maniac") or overact (the guy suddenly attacks the botanist) in various scenes. Anyway in S2 ep 10 Bobbie Draper falls a few stories onto concrete and gets up and appears to be completely uninjured. Was that just good luck or are we supposed to make something of it? Also how did the Avasarala get a picture of the mysterious unsuited attacker on Ganymede that she shows Bobbie?

No plot spoilers below, but since my reply refers to the books, I put the answer in spoiler tags.

Spoiler:
1. The scene with Amos is exactly as written in the book. Wes Chatham is 100% nailing the character.

2. Agreed the Bobbie fall scene was odd, but I chalk that up to her being a super-soldier and a physical beast. Hard to match actors with the book characters. In the books she's 6' 7", 220 lb.(not to mention that the average Belter male is well over 7')

3. The image of the Ganymede attacker came from Bobbie's power armor, which records everything she sees and its telemetry picks up. We can assume that Martian command has seen that as well, but are playing things close to the vest.

Amos is being played perfectly. That's who he is. Start viewing him through that lens and you'll appreciate the acting.

Yeah, of the major characters, I think Amos matches the best with the books, followed by Avasarala. Naomi is fine, Bobbie is too pretty, Holden too young, Alex too old but I don't mind, and Thomas Jane as Miller was awesome.

Not much they can do about heights of the actors. Naomi's a head taller than Holden in the books.

Think they kinda rushed Bobby defecting...I don't remember, did she do that in the books? I thought she was just hired by Avasarala or something?

And do you think they're going to jump ahead with Naomi and her child arc?

This slightly bothered me, too. Just because you've trained with extra weight to simulate 1g doesn't mean you would just shrug off a fall like that.

But I'm having so much fun that I don't care. This is only the second TV series or movie that inspired me to go read the books it's based on if I hadn't read them already. "The Road" was the other one.

I got to that scene after reading people's complaints, and it scanned perfectly plausible for me. She's in shape, a trained soldier, she's on a cocktail of Space steroids and Future bone density pills, and she fell down a slope with those stepped balcony things every like 10 feet.

They have altered how Bobbie gets to Avasarala, but from a TV perspective it's not a huge change - draws the lines more clearly for the viewer.

The Naomi reveal is the 2nd reference to her past this season. In Episode 7 (I think) when Fred and Dawes are talking to the Belters about the missiles, either Fred is Dawes is talking about the different OPA factions, and one faction named is "Inaros", so maybe they intend to introduce that plot line in Season 3.

You'd imagine that they don't expect to do nine seasons of a TV show, so compressing some of the books makes sense. Corey is/are releasing a new book every year, so we should be able to keep a good pace.

I've been reading the books when they were released, but sometimes I feel like I'm reading the Adventures of James Holden, rather than the Expanse series. Maybe the show can avoid that problem.

This is for the book-readers only, as the following will be a big spoiler for non-book readers, so don't read if you don't want to be spoiled:

Spoiler:
I mean it! Don't look unless you want to see a huge spoiler.
Spoiler:
Last chance!
Spoiler:
I'm assuming Thomas Jane will be back as Miller, right? No way they don't use that part of the books.

ep 12
Those cucumber sandwiches must be delicious.

Not having read the books, this episode was loaded with new material that went right by me I think

Not sure what Sadavir's "it was 186 minutes ago" line meant.
Not sure why none of the Mars ships are helping the Ganymede survivors.
Not sure how a martian ship was blown up. UN ship did it?
Come on, Holden, chill out a little.
Thought I saw something on the Rocinate ship at the end, not sure.
