i don't like the naomi actress. i don't like the character. but i enjoyed the scenes with her that you are all complaining about! lol and i read the books so i knew what was gonna happen. i still enjoyed the tension. i thought it was well done.

1st episode of season 6 is on Prime now...

Good to have it back, but jesus christ the actor who plays Marco is so amazingly bad that it takes me out of the show. And I don't give a crap about Philip's crisis of conscience. More sci-fi and less soap opera.

New episode every Friday according to the notification I got on my phone about it a few minutes ago. I am still a season or 2 behind.

I'm in, but not holding my breath. At this point, any popular series that does not pull a Game of Implodes is considered 'sticking the landing'. Lets see if the writers can avoid subverting the subversion of the subverting expectations trope.

you'll honestly be happier if you stop at this point

i can't stop watching myself, i'm locked in no matter how much they turn their economy into cheese manufacturing

but as someone said, it's definitely suffering from series exhaustion at this point and they're just stringing things out and getting caught up in absurd subplots nobody cares about involving characters nobody cares about

anyone read the books? are they staying faithful or is it going full on game of thrones at this point and doing its own thing?

Kindly reminder to put anything specific or plot/direction-oriented about the books in spoilers, please. This is the ole pre-emption post.

And I disagree, rick. I didn't love the last two seasons, particularly s4, but it's holding up much better than a show like Billions; I actually thought s5 was very solid at one point then failed to live up to its potential whilst still being good. I agree with others that we could have done with less of the Inaros stuff.

The show is still worth watching for me, personally. Can we please just get some more Anderson Dawes already, though?

I don't remember Phillip (Naomi's son) being a big part of the books...he and Marco are the worst.

Really odd to see the Laconia bit before the opening credits...that's supposed to be part of the 30 year jump in the books....isn't it? It's part of a novella called "Strange Dogs."

agreed it hasn't had a billions type fall from great to laughably bad

still one of few decent scifi shows in existence so i'm going to keep injecting this into my veins

huge fan of raised by wolves but nobody else seems to like that show

Every show that lasts more than a couple of seasons becomes a soap opera. I don't know why - perhaps they feel the need to 'power creep'? Apply that to personal interactions and you end up with a soap opera.

It helps that this show is still following the books, and that there was a plan for the arc of the books (I assume?) before they started writing them. It's interesting that 'power creep' in at least sci-fi terms is going backwards. Protomolecule for a couple of seasons, and yes, gateway, but now the focus is on human v human rather than human v alien weirdness.

I don't remember the stupid soap opera stuff being so heavily featured in the books, though the book that was adapted for last season definitely had a lot of skippable stuff along those lines.

Spoiler:
I don't know if this will count as a spoiler, but it'll be interesting to see how they intend to finish the series when there are two books still to come, unadapted.

Spoiler:
3 books after this one - s6 is book 6 and there are 9 books.

Book 9 just released 2 weeks ago. I'm reading it now.

Hopefully there are a couple of movies to wrap up the story, but this is a logical place to stop the series due to the 30 year time jump between book 6 and the final three.

Also I can completely understand how those who haven't read the books are completely confused by s6 e1.

I'm also interested in how they move on after being forced by Cas Anvar's behavior to kill off Alex. Surprised they didn't have the crew hire on a new pilot.

Honestly season 5 was much better if you just skip over every scene with Naomi.

I'm glad it's not just me. 47 minute episode... Yeh, I'm skipping 15m of that.

That one really Naomi episode was way way way too long. We get she’s trying to communicate. Do we need her to go into the vacuum space to rig the communications doohickey for 137 times?

Weird article. Apparently, this season is supposed to be the last season and is only six episodes long because of money issues, but people involved with the show are hinting they'd like to get a deal with another streaming service/network. How does Bezos allegedly single-handledly save the show and then find himself not willing to shell out a few more pennies to see it through properly to the end?

The Strange Dogs cold open is a BAFFLING decision when they're trying to do a whole book in 6 episodes, they must think foreshadowing the Laconia plot will get them a miniseries or movie or something

So this entire six episodes is the wrap up of Marko. Yay. I mean, this would have been better as the last 3 episodes of last season. Oh well...
